Add option to set Domain Expansion to HTTPS
-
When I try using domain expansion (CTRL + Enter) Vivaldi adds
http://www
before what I've typed to complete the URL. Normally this is not a problem as I get redirected to HTTPS and the site loads as expected, however if a site does not have HTTPS redirection set up in the normal way (which is rare but does happen somewhat regularly for me) I get insecure site warnings and I have to manually fix or retype the full URL withhttps://
in order to connect to the site. I have the "Always Use Secure Connection (HTTPS)" option enabled.Would it be possible to either get a checkbox to have the domain expansion autocomplete with
https://
or have it do that if the Always Use Secure Connection (HTTPS) is enabled? -
Which version of Vivaldi is used and on which OS
Can you provide an example URL to test against as I cannot reproduce reported behaviour?

Voted; it seems this is new behavior in the last couple Vivaldi releases as I don't remember seeing it before around the 7.2.x builds.
@yojimbo274064400 I've seen this on multiple sites. Here are repro instructions if you need them (I did this on Windows):
- Open a new tab in the browser, either using the New Tab button or the Ctrl+T shortcut.
- Type the main part of the domain in the location bar (e.g. '
trugreen
,' 'google
,' etc.) - Use the domain expansion shortcut of Ctrl+Enter to fill out the rest of the domain name and start the page navigation process.
- Domain expansion autofills the address bar with
http://
instead of the expectedhttps://
option (e.g.,http://www.google.com
orhttp://www.trugreen.com
). - This results with the
Site is not secure
warning page, even withAlways Use Secure Connection (HTTPS)
enabled in Vivaldi's settings menu:
