Vivaldi 7.2: Speedy and smart, a serious update.

@0x49D1 thank you. I'll pass it on. If you could make an issue for this and post the number here that would be helpful

@DoctorG No I'm talking about the grammar checker.
-
@Culip Ah, i misunderstood, me confused grammar with spellcheck. I am not English native speaker.
-
@Culip A grammar checker would be too much work, for so many languages Vivaldi is supporting.

I have no problem with speed once V is up and running, but opening it has become very noticeably laggy.

@paul1149
Hi, we have a bug report about loading web panels at start even lazy loading is enabled.
I use only 3 so Vivaldi start in < 2 seconds.
Maybe try to start in a terminal with--disable-extensions
if an extension cause this after the update to Chromium 134. -
Two questions?
Is this VB-114417 new?
I'm still on copper line 60/30, not sure if it's any faster? -
@gmg done:
VB-115104
. Thanks! -
@0x49D1 Confirmed internally.

Thank you very much for this update
Unfortunately, with the new version I have some issues which are a little bit annoying.
One thing is the panel, which is always opened when I start Vivaldi, despite I'm closing Vivaldi with the panel closed.
Another problem is the position of items in the menu which I have customized. For example, in settings I have bookmarks in the top area of my menu but now this item appears on the bottom of my menu after "Beenden" (Exit).
My settings:
My current menu:

@auxce
Hi, please read above about the panel issue.
About the menu, both are not default, after the update I got one item removed in the tab menu but not a reset.
No idea why this happen, I just moved it back. -
Wow, you can really tell the difference with this new update, very speedy.
An issue though, when I go fullscreen now, it says "Press escape key to exit fullscreen". I get that this is a security feature, but where's the option to disable this pop-up? I can't find it in the settings.

Thanks for the update, but
In true Vivaldi fashion, you are in charge. You can finetune the address bar to match your workflow.
That simply is no longer the case. We are actually not able to finetune(prioritize) results the way we could before. And that has negatively impacted my workflow and unfortunately I will not be updating.
Hopefully we will be back in charge of search results in the next release
-
Address bar went back to prioritizing bookmarks for some reason after the update. How can I revert it back to simply typing something in the address bar and hitting enter to search instead of being sent to something in my bookmarks?
-
@PanKotowski
Hi, disable bookmarks or priority in the address bar settings. -
@0x49d1: Ok we are looking into this. Out of curiosity why did you add F2, which website was stealing that from the browser?
-
Cool update, thanks for your work! Improved loading really makes a difference with many websites, feels very instant. Also, I like the currency-widget a lot! Will save me some clicks.
But can somebody explain, what "Direct Match" does in the address bar settings? Seems to be different from using the search engines defined, but I don't fully understand what it does.
-
@Ruarí F2 is common "Edit" hotkey from Windows forms era, for example we use it in some internal projects (along with "e"/ctrl+e)
I just wanted to stick it to commands popup in ANY case.

@PanKotowski
Hi, disable bookmarks or priority in the address bar settings.Thank you. Unfortunately, I had to disable history there as well to be able to just search in address bar when I have something similar in bookmarks or history.
