Vivaldi for Windows crashes within a second when started for the first time - but after that initial crash it launches and runs fine.
-
@EricJH Hi Eric, thx, will give it a go.
2 minutes later...
Well I gave it a go, and I'm afraid it doesn't make the slightest difference!
As per usual, Vivaldi crashes out on first loading, then proceeds to load and run as expected subsequently.
It's sure to be a profile issue (as it only occurs with one profile) but I'm not sure why it only occurs when V is run first time round in a Windows session. Time to re-enable fast loading again. -
Did you reboot after disabling Fast Startup? That is a mandatory step that I forgot to mention.

@mib2berlin said in Vivaldi for Windows crashes within a second when started for the first time - but after that initial crash it launches and runs fine.:
We have some reports extensions and/or web panels can crash Vivaldi
This is just an FYI. I'm trying running without opening the web panel. But yesterday I did open it to try something and then immediately closed it. I also only had one window open. Shortly after that I had a crash. I didn't send a crash dump, because I sent one just over a week ago.
So now I'll just stay away from the panels and see if anything happens.

Re: Vivaldi for Windows crashes within a second when started for the first time - but after that initial crash it launches and runs fine.
Hello, iam having same issue since version 7.x.
it ALWAYS crash FIRST time ONCE per day at FIRST start = thats all
New day, fresh boot, start vivaldi - > loading, gui startsup and crashes.
Wait few seconds,
start again-> loading -> everything seems ok.
The key is "new day", never happens twice per day, even after full reboot.Crash reports are exactly where should be, once per day
"....AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Crashpad\reports.."

@yablos Which OS and Vivaldi version?
-
@DoctorG
Actual version is:
7.3.3635.9 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
Windows 10 Pro - 22H2 - 19045.5737 - desktopBut it started weeks ago(7.2 at least)
-
@yablos Could be a extension and/or GPU driver incompatibility.
Please try the troubleshooting steps, including testing in a clean profile and disabling adblocking/extensions:

@yablos It would be great if you could send the dev team crash dumps from time of crash so that they can understand what is triggering the crashes.
Here's more info about how to send crash dump files:

@DoctorG Thats from where i came
One shoot per day is not much for fiddlering. For tomorow, next one to turn off is builtin vpn.
Yes, if i dont find anything, bug-report is next step. Dont wanna send "trash" before inspecting whats going on.Any tips are welcomed.

"It seems, that in version
7.3.3635.11 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
its fixed. First day without startup crash."EDIT:
false positive, its still same. Update was "first start" per day, si iam misinterpreted the result.
