BUG | Fullscreen video on Youtube freezes
-
@mib2berlin Maybe to provide some logs/traces from me of what is happening in the UI. I believe this can be useful for debuging even if they can't repro the issue.

@enc0re
You can add such information in reply of the conformation mail and/or post here, maybe there are some useful info users can check. -
I can confirm the bug with the latest stable 7.2.3621.67 and Nvidia, proprietary drivers 570.133.07 in a Wayland session with
vivaldi-stable --ozone-platform-hint=wayland --user-data-dir=/tmp/vivteststable/
playing the video https://test-videos.co.uk/vids/bigbuckbunny/mp4/h264/1080/Big_Buck_Bunny_1080_10s_30MB.mp4 . The only way to return from the frozen fullscreen is by pressingAlt
(orAlt+Tab
too I guess).No way they can not reproduce this. Reopen it and list all the details again.

Did you do that? I recorded a UI rendering trace from
chrome://tracing
here (valid for 1 day) https://www.filemail.com/d/plybinnhrxabuva . The video plays for ~5 seconds locally (file:///
), then I go fullscreen, wait for some seconds, then I return withAlt
. @DoctorG you may include it in the bug report, or if something else is additionally needed do tell. -
@npro Thanks for trace.
I downloaded the file and uploaded to internal bug tracker entry.
-
-
@mib2berlin It's ok you were only asked in OP's quote if you would need a trace, so I did that for the OP, nobody said it is your bug
-
@npro No, I didn't. I don't know how to do that
Hopefully your trace will help and we will not wait for fix until another stable release.

Observation.
Fullscreen freezes on monitor which is plugged via HDMI. If I move window with playing video to monitor plugged via DisplayPort and go to fullscreen, then it won't freeze. If I move it back to HDMI monitor, it freezes again.
-
I updated VB-113961 for 7.4 Snapshot.
-
@enc0re In my case it was with a VGA connector.
-
Same issue on:
- 6.14.0-1-MANJARO
- Wayland
- KDE Plasma 6.3.4
- video-nvidia 2025.01.13
- Vivaldi 7.3.3635.11
However, if I enable a warmer color scheme for the monitor in KDE settings, the issue disappears.
upd.:
No same issue with Firefox and Chromium
