Websites not remembering login state
-
@maximvasiljev it's set to Block in Icognito Mode only
-
Opened my discord after a long time and I'm still logged in .
Also check extensions, perhaps something is affecting cookie/cache.

Just a question, is there a relationship between the content blocker and third-party cookies ? I always wondered why you can blocked ads in one side and those cookies in another side ?
-
@tcltk Not a direct relationship. More likely a collateral one. But with a content blocker you could bypass the cookie consent screen preventing to store at all an hypothetical need 3rd party cookie.
-
Ah ! Thank you. I tend to apply content blockek everywhere. Some sites keep me asking to confirm login by sms. So the solution could be to alleviate content blocker and adjust cookies setting.

Some sites now actually enforce that by design, for example GitHub or Steam now always need a double confirmation via mail/sms. In other cases, could be due content blockers which remove in some way the "verified login" information.

Some pages, mainly official ones, like Banks or Healthcare, forget your visit after leaving the page and also block the Browser to store your account data, you must log in everytime writing your data and password by hand (this in my Bank even with an onsreen Keyboard with randomized order of the keys), with 2FA (SMS or Mail) to log in for security reasons. There is nothing stored in the browser or Password Manager if you use one.

Ok well these sites worked fine in my last browser with the same extensions, so I don't think it is the site or the extension causing an issue.

@dustyhansen
Hi, many Chrome extensions doesn't work in Vivaldi or mess up other extensions.
Edit your Vivaldi desktop shortcut and add--disable-extensions
, this block all extensions from loading, test this for some time to sort out it is not an extension. -
Wow... Here is the solution to the bugs. A browser without extensions. Brillant! Thanks @mib2berlin for saving @yngve time correcting any bugs and crushes. ROTFL
-
@gkodkod
Fine we could help you, Chrome extensions cause 80% of all issues in Vivaldi, developed and tested for Chrome many of them not even work at all in Vivaldi.
So excluding extensions is always the first step if users report issues.Cheers, mib
-
@gkodkod No extension is not a solution.
Sometimes broken updates of extensions can be fixed by disabling them, restart Vivaldi and enabling them.
I would remove all extensions, install one, test if login state is good now, install next, and so on… until login state fails, then last extension is the cause of broken login state.
-
@mib2berlin can't i just turn off the extensions in the extension manager?
-
@dustyhansen
This is not the same as not loading them at start, you can try this but using--disable-extensions
in the shortcut is better and you can remove it after the test.
If you have an Vivaldi icon in the task bar you can start Vivaldi with extensions from there and without the extensions from the shortcut.
I use this very often to test command line flags,--disable-gpu
is another one to test video issues, for example.Cheers, mib

@dustyhansen, you also can open Vivaldi in an Guest Profile, this way it open with the settings by default and without extension, this is the easiest way and the first troubleshooting step. Only diabeling the extension don't always work, because some extension left some data and scripts behind, despite being inactive.
PS. Instead to use an extension manager, put the extension page in the web panel, so you can access yjese always with a simple click. Same for all other intern pages which you want to access often (flags, serviceworkers, etc.), all these can be added to the web panel.

@dustyhansen Hey! I did got exactly same problem. The shit was I turned password saving off for discord.com . Later in settings/Privacy&Security section it was impossible to delete discord.com from the list of sites on which it's no allowed to save login&password. Literally the "-" (minus) button didn't work
which is obvious bug - Discord was always on that list, and there was no possibility for it's password to be saved... I know it must not log out even with no login&password saved on browser but....
I deleted Vivaldi with all it's register traces (used "REG ORGANIZER" for that) , reinstalled it, and allowed Vivaldi to save password specifically for discord. (I know it's not so good safe to damn it save even 1 password in browser, but now this sh..t works) . -

Looks like a bug, yes.
I tested 7.2.3621.54 (read 7.2 Stable RC1) and could remove in Settings → Privacy all entries in password exception list.
@Senya888 Next time check internal password manager page
chrome://password-manager/settings
, there is a list of domains which should not store passwords.
