V 6.9 | Mailbox Doesn't Exist
-
I couldn't find where are the "Listing Mailboxes" log that @gudmundurg74 asked for. I think I have proven that I'm incompetent at this, but if there is anything else that anybody wants me to try, try I will.
-
@mourningdoves thanks already form coming this far! This debugging stuff is tedious work, and it's highly appreciated that you dive into it and support as the bug hunt as far as you do!
The logging will be continuous but if you click and drag the scroll bar at the right side you should be able to go anywhere further up, and then the thing should just stay there. The list commands should show shortly after the connection is initially made.

Hello, I come back to this problem, I stay on the case of the fixed computer.
I deleted my Yahoo.fr account (after having made a copy of the Vivaldi files present in .conf and .cache), I closed the Vivaldi browser then I restarted it.
I then tried to re-create my Yahoo.fr account.
First of all I tried to use OAuth, unfortunately without surprise I had the error: "Failed to fetch".
I then tried to create the account using simple password authentication, I got this error "LOGIN Invalid credentials"
As for the manipulations proposed by WildEnte in this post: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/100605/v-6-9-mailbox-doesn-t-exist/38
I had the same results as mourningdoves in his post: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/100605/v-6-9-mailbox-doesn-t-exist/40
I did not consider it useful to clutter the topic further.
I hope that this very modest contribution will help developers a little.
Thank you for your work. -
@JulesMarie
Hi, I had the same "Failed to fetch" error with OAuth but it work with a created app password.
This app password looks like: ZVt8ag3PvNFMKpW
Did you meant this with "simple password authentication"?Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin
Hello mib2berlin, I tried with a simple password.
Indeed with the application password it works perfectly again.
I thank you very much for your wise advice.
I wish you a very good end of the day.
Kind regards. -
@WildEnte , I'll keep plugging away when I have a block of time here and there. No problem, Vivaldi is amazing so if I can help, I'll try.

Did Vivaldi create that password for you? I can try that next. Thanks.

@mourningdoves
Hi and no, the mail provider does this.
It's a bit hard to find it on Yahoo check here > https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN15241.html -
@JulesMarie Yahoo and AOL no longer allow the use of the regular account password to access Yahoo and AOL Mail, when using a third-party client. Either an app password generated in the account's security settings, or using OAuth, should work.
This change was effective October 2020.

@edwardp
Hi, OAuth does not work for me adding the account again, it gives "Could not fetch" error.
App password work`s.
We have a bug report about: VB-109062 -
@mib2berlin I just confirmed the bug report. I saw the same when adding a Yahoo account, but Vivaldi Mail would not create the account using OAuth once the error appeared.

FYI, the latest minor update, https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/minor-update-6-9/, has a fix for error handling which should make the mail client usable if you have been running into the "Mailbox doesn't exist" error. Unfortunately we still haven't been able to reproduce or fix the actual error though, but we'll keep digging.
Please let us know if the update helps (or doesn't!). Also, any further insights and info about the error are always appreciated.

@coolos these are actually two different problems.
The "Failed to fetch" issue is related to oauth and yahoo and we are working on that, I just heard a fix is in a review+testing phase, hopefully we'll have a fix in an update very soon.
In the meantime, have you tried setting up an app password and using that instead of oauth for your yahoo.fr account?
-
@gudmundurg74
Yes, it's ok with appli pass for yahoo.fr -
@gudmundurg74 I downloaded .41 yesterday (without knowing it!). I'm not getting any "failed to fetch" messages any more. And a problem I didn't complain about - Vivaldi hogging memory for about 45 seconds after opening - has also completely vanished.
I tried doing another log capture yesterday, but I don't think there was anything there that you didn't already know, just a series of repetitive actions. (This must have been after .41 installed itself.) I can still post it if you want, though I'll have to edit out some personal information.

@mourningdoves thanks for the report, good to hear we're moving in the right direction. I don't think we need any more logs here if all is well.

I'm back from vacation, and first I updated my Ubuntu-system. This includes an update of Vivaldi to version 6.9.3447.44 (Stable channel) stable (64-Bit). With this version, the problem has disappeared, and the mail worked without any problems.
Thanks to all for the hints and effort to solve this topic.

Hello,
same troubles with connectiong to email servers started at my end also (few versions back).3 differente IMAP serfers:
- office365 - IMAP oauth
2 and 3. IMAP, differente servers, regular user/pwd auth
at config it says: "all green" and happy
What is most strange:
- Vivaldi at start freeze for ~30seconds(completely) = its new
- after unfreeze: sometimes(rarely) it fetches few mails, from random accounts
- after that, it never connects again.
- sending email is working
- closing and reopening vivaldi doesnt help, reindexing emails, deleting temps. Once helped complete restart, but after while, "notconnectiong" was back.
windows10
"vivaldi:inspect#extensions" is empty
how can i help to identify whats goin on?
- office365 - IMAP oauth
