Tab management leveled up, more efficient browsing and squashed bugs: Vivaldi 6.9 is here!
-
@Pathduck Thank you again. I followed your advice and it worked perfectly.
When Vivaldi started I was given the option to file a crash report so I did.
As I mentioned, I hadn't fiddled with folders or installing older versions, so this type of error was very frustrating. If such happened to a new and inexperienced user it may well turn them off Vivaldi forever.
-
I still have the Problem that tabs end up somewhere else when I move them to another monitor.

I won't start using it until they make it possible to import all my data from the old Opera mail client.
Messages in an Opera format could be imported for years already. Contacts will be created from to/from addresses. Direct import from Opera also working fine for a couple of years now. I have experience with all of this.
What do you think is missing?

It gets better and better.

Once you rename a tab, it is no longer searchable via the address bar or quick commands, only via the window sidebar
-
-
@mib2berlin Try renaming to anything totally unrelated.

Ah, this is a strange bug, please report it to the bug tracker.
I can confirm internally.For information on how to report a bug, see this URL: https://vvld.in/how-to-report-bugs
Once that is done, please share the bug number (beginning with VB-).
Add your vivaldi.net username, please.
On the form, you can add your email address. Once submitted, you'll get a confirmation. You can reply to this with any logs or further info.Cheers, mib

I have problems with the BACK TO LIVE time shift function in DAZN, i.e. it doesn't skip back to live as it should.
-
@mib2berlin VB-109142. I discovered yet another interesting thing when rechecking: when you have at least two renamed tabs, the search is OK for both. When you're back to one, the issue is back as well.
-
@chalex2020
There was a report already:
VB-107710
[Quick Commands] Named tab cannot be found with its custom name
If I rename two tabs like this:I still cant find them in the quick commands.
Anyway, the developer will find out.Thank you for the report, mib
-
@mib2berlin Indeed, I rejoiced too early. They are searchable by their addresses, not by their new titles
And when back to a later renamed one, it's searchable only by its address:

Should we be able to see the Clear Tab Structure and Tab Stacks from Vivaldi Android Mobile in the Window Panel on Desktop Android ?
I can't see any of my Tab Stacks in the list, it's just showing all tabs as individual, even though many of them on my Vivaldi Android are in Stacks. Also vice versa, can't see the Tab Stacks I have on the Desktop in the Synced Tabs on Vivaldi Android ?

@chalex2020
Hi, both should work, who knows the URL's of hundreds of tabs.Cheers, mib

@dpn
Hi, stacks/groups are not synced, just a missing feature I guess.Cheers, mib

I think it is important that in addition to this kind of changelog, which is not useful and is not understood by the vast majority of users:
[New][Blocker] Add support for uBlock ‘important’, ‘all’ and ‘redirect-rule’ rules (VB-108228)
[New][Blocker] Add uBlock option aliases support (VB-107194)
It is reported when the adblocker supports one of the default uBO lists (De facto standard), more or less like this:
[New][Blocker] Support of “Adguard - Ads”.

That's a shame. I've added a Feature Request if anyone is interested like myself in such a feature.

Thank you! I'll be able to get rid of two tab renaming extensions.I too, wish I could get rid of the 2 renaming extensions, but I can't because a new renamed tab title longer than 55 characters gets cut off, and because the renamed title does not persist when the tab becomes a bookmark.
-
@jsosmd Yep ... I spoke too soon
️ Me too — no persistence. Oh well, and darn. Maybe one day.

@jsosmd
Hi, what do you want to add as name, a novel?< This is 48
@cherylfahling @jsosmd
The name lost is a bug, a fix is in progress.Cheers, mib
