Snapshot 1.0.340.7 - Silent Tabs For Users, Netflix support and HTML5 notifications
-
Works here fine with Linux Ubuntu. Are you sure you just don't lose focus of the input when it happens?
-
Yepp. Tried many times. Happens consistently - every time.

@Sajadi:
In the end Vivaldi will for sure not be as fast as other browsers…
Noooooooooooooooooooo!
-
Nice!

Win 7 64, 8 Gig,32 Viv
No need to go into detail you've heard it before. Loaded fast, high hopes, after 1/2 hr. CPU OK but free memory eaten up, still can't use regularly.
FYI:
Update: I don't know but this is strange! I updated a program I use once in awhile and it seems to have let Vivaldi free up some memory ( up to 1.5G and I am streaming a program at same time) AND CPU is down to 1 &2%. It's been that way for OVER 1/2 hr. Cross fingers.I've checked before and on MS taskmaster AND Vivaldi task neither showed it was using THAT much CPU and/or Free memory.
Maybe other with some programs are giving problems also and not showing…a better man than I would have to dissect it. I'll be clicking my heels if I can use Vivaldi finally, hold breath.
-
I learnt that Firefox/Netscape plugins don't work with Vivaldi any more after support was dropped by Chrome 47. Maybe there's an Adobe Reader plugin that you could use.
-
For me this always happens no matter wether it's a new or an "old" tab. Even when tabbing out of the address field straight to the search field I cannot enter any text immediately without having to re-focus with the mouse.

Mine is an old i7-920, 2.67GHz and 4 cores (8 logical, 4 physical) and Viv 64 runs like grit through a goose, so I don't think it's a processor power issue.
-
Indeed. Often the first mouse click doesn't "take" as well. There's definitely a focus issue/problem.
-
Silencing the tab also takes me to that tab. It would be convenient if I could mute the tab without switching to it.
-
Yes, I feel like on my 4th Gen i5 with 6GB of RAM HP laptop, the x64 version seems to run a bit faster and smoother.
And what do you mean the x64 version is getting updated? You mean it's not going to be experimental anymore, and will have it's own optimization?
-
I'm thinking it will match, and possibly surpass, the speed of other browsers at some point.
-
I try Edge periodically and love how responsive it is. It just feels so 'light' and 'quick'. I don't mind if Vivaldi is milliseconds slower but I hope Vivaldi can speed up the UI from where it is now. It's so young I'm not going to worry yet that it can't improve a lot.
-
Do you see any patterns on how to reproduce? I tried Hangout and could not reproduce easily there
Olli, go to macrumors. If you mind creating an account, I can borrow you my own.
Quote someone, anyone. Then write and try backspace. It will go back in history every time. I just wish you could put an option in to disable backspace altogether. I open up Safari just for macrumors and some other sites as well coz of this issue

Would it be possible to implement a feature that I use a lot in Opera? I highlight a word(s), right-click and select "Search with" and get a submenu of search engines that I have set up.
Thanks -
Hmm, is there a way for me to make the "Home / Homepage" - button take me to my Speed dial? That's really what I'd want, but i don't see any built-in functionality for that.
-
I have about 65 tabs open and periodically this happens to a few of them. If I restart the browser the page loads properly.
-
Not yet.
-
I'm on Edge right now too, and have been going back and forth from Edge and Vivaldi. I'm taking a bit of a break from Vivaldi at the moment, so I haven't even tried the mute tab feature yet.
Edge . . . well, it's not a bad browser. It's got it's own panel on the right, which is quite nice. Definitely nicer looking than Chrome and Firefox. Though I find it uses just as much resources as the other browsers. Maybe a bit less than Vivaldi, but still a lot of resources.
I have one process in Edge: 756MB
And others in Edge . . .455MB
382MB
432MBMy memory is at 67% with just Edge open. So I'd say it's just as bad as every other browser in terms of resource hogging. I don't know if Vivaldi or the others take up that kind of space. I used to use new Opera before switching to all this. Haven't used it since earlier this year, but I don't remember that browser taking nearly as much resources, even if it did also make my laptop heat up a bit.
