Snapshot 1.0.334.3 - Fixes for tab title cropping and Windows XP
-
Win 7 64 Bit, 8 Gig 32 Bit Viv
I downloaded whole file installed had no problems AT all. In fact all my page tabs showed up immediately in Viv Taskmanger. First time for that. For NOW reasonable CPU and Free memory, crossing fingers have said that before.
Addendum: CPU seems high 59% but maybe manageable..nothing else loaded so might not work, free mem down to 980 Meg. Have ONE Flash audio stream…background page is taking 26% CPU and Browser is using 20%.
Went to pot 100% CPU 32 min in 428 Free got to quit, closer. I NEVER get a long enough time to really ENJOY Viv or really use it for any length of time so hard to review or help
Happy Thanksgiving to all…..

Laptop ATI Radeon and NO such problem. I wonder if drivers need to be updated? Installed from full file, Viv not loaded, not update.

Vivaldi is a Chromium-based browser. That's why it uses memory like Chrome, and it's also why it is going to require a fair amount of optimization and tweaking in order to to run light, fast and smooth on some kinds of hardware (it already does on mine). Chromium does, of course, come with some limiting factors, such as multi-process architecture.
Vivaldi has not been removed from any repositories. Mine, on an Ubuntu distro, continues to update every time I update the system. Linux repositories recognize Vivaldi "Beta" and "snapshot" as different versions. A snapshot will update to anything. A Beta will only update to another Beta.
Mail is still in the works. Jon and other staff at Vivaldi actually use versions of Vivaldi that include E-Mail. It just is not ready for prime time yet. The Mail and Contacts links were removed from the panel for probably more than one reason. I know for sure the Contacts panel, with no email to interact with, was causing some bugs. Further, there were multiple complaints here and in the forums that "If you're not giving us email RIGHT AWAY, you should remove the link from the panel - or at least remove the 'coming soon' message." Well, the same build the developers introduced the ability to hide panels, they also dropped those two links. I suspect it streamlined matters a bit in writing the show/don't show panels code as well.
You're welcome to take some time off and stop watching the progress of the browser, but I would take issue with the idea that, for many of us at least, it is "not worth the time." You are free to use you time at you will. I use Vivaldi as my default browser, and have since March, so of course I will continue to follow it with great interest as mail, and many other features, are added over time.

Please give us an option to disable inline autocomplete inside the address bar, show the suggestion in a drop down instead, just like the old days.

Confirmed
-
I also uninstalled and installed new … same thing.
my Laptop @Work has no NVidia and the same problem. Drivers are newest. -
Vivaldi still does not pass form contents when using "_blank" as target. See the code here http://pastebin.com/LjY9GFsR and try it here http://phpfiddle.org/ or on your own web server. This is a bug!
-
can't confirm, search by shortcut works in my installation
-
WTF! me too i experienced the same issue! strange, Please make the SYNCING FEATHER AVAILABLE, to Sync our Bookmarks and Passwords, and the ability to EXPORT BOOKMARKS TO HTML! Missing! is it so hard to make them available.
Thank you dont wanna return to Opera (Bink). -
Tab bar scrolling again is too sensitive.
-
I have the opposite problem - I can't hide them. They reappear after every browser restart.
-
It's beta software… relax.
-
At first it seems quick but if I count the clicks from scroll wheel feedback, it seems to be spot on for the scroll wheel on my mouse (Win 7, Vivaldi x64).
Perhaps you can give details of your O/S and mouse make/model to help them reproduce the problem?
-
Can you guys change chrome://flags/#num-raster-threads to "1" and check if the totally black pages are gone? It worked for me. Ohh, you need to restart Vivaldi after changing it.
-
Same problem Vista 32, ATI Radeon X1300PRO
-
are you stupid? each time zoom all the pages?

Bug (I think)
After a crash with blank/ corrupted tabs (see others from the very beginning of this thread) I noticed that a tab stack had unstacked its tabs AND was still a tab stack!
Nonetheless, none of these tabs (stacked or unstacked) will reload the content.
PLUS, some of the tabs now seem to be continuously continuing to load (ie they show a permanent 'X' on the navigation bar) and some are fully-loaded but also empty of content.
A forced reload of one of these tabs still won't produce a page with visible content. A Ctrl-U shows that there is code there, but it simply doesn't render in that tab any longer. Copy and paste the URL into a new tab and… BINGO! that tab shows the correct content. Copy n paste back into the original tab and... NO visible content.
That tab is deceased. It is no more. It is dead. It has shuffled off this mortal coil. It is no longer. It has gone to join the choir invisible. It is pushing up the daisies. It's a gonna. It is dead, They're all dead, Dave. All of them, dead. DEAD
Vista32, ATI Radeon X1300 PRO, 2GB RAM, Buckets of HD, Plenty of Style, No time-waster, etc.

I saw this bug quite frequent in some previous snapshots, but the latest ones have behaved well for me.
But it looks like the bug is still there…Win7x64 Vx32
-
For me, it's been there since 330.3 and the new Chromium 47.

Yes, it seems that it helped. For some reason I can't reproduce the black screen even after setting it back to default (or 2, 3 and 4). I can sometimes see the black screen appearing for about a second and after that page loads fine.
But I didn't test it that much because I decided to switch to the beta instead of snapshots (I have them both installed).
I don't how important it is, but I've just updated nvidia drivers - they were rather old when I was getting black screens.
