Snapshot 1.0.291.18 - A focus on bugfixing
-
confirm. but i use 32 bit version Vialdi on Windows 7 64 bit
-
Address bar is not reacting to Enter/Return with any entered string that wasn't in typed history. [Linux x64]
-
I go for the Bing selection, in order to both monetize searches done by Vivaldi users through Bing and, also maybe, come to the get involved MS ecosystem as an "MS supported browser", something that would widen Vivaldi's user base. It's a good time now that Edge is unpolished and does not support extensions and IE is way down the hill.
A splinter in my mind though, is that Vivaldi uses Chrome Store extensions… How will Google react regarding this if it is taken away as the default search engine??
-
I'd like to have an otion to open search results for selected text in a background tab. In most cases I'd continue reading the current page.
-
+1
Also, search-for-selected-text doesn't do anything in this build [Linux x64]Edit: yup, Ryoto's suggestion to set default search engine fixes this too.
-
This was it, thanks!
-
Even if it isn't really a bug, I think that we should be able to watch any video using a vivaldi beta.
-
since few releases Vivaldi doesn't get focus back on the same input field after external command is executed. It's very annoying because I use it to enter login/email/password data and it interprets f.e. my email as a set of commands rather than paste them into the input field.
i.e. I focus on a field, press a keyboard shortcut that executes external command which gets the focus, I select what I want it to paste and it uses xdotool to type the password/email/whatever - this no longer works
-
BTW, is there a way to import bookmars from (chromium based) Opera?
I tried to copy Bookmarks file but it's replaced with a default one on the first start…
-
I'm sure you will optimize it at some point, but the reason I'm still using Chrome instead of Vivaldi is because Vivaldi uses too much CPU.
Whenever opening a tab, the CPU always jumps to 20%+ before going back down to normal 1-3% levels. On Chrome, I can open a thousand tabs, and the CPU will never go above 10%, if even getting near there.
-
Hi,
This snapshot is good. You should try to make the browser use less cpu.
With some extension there is a bug with the extension panel(ublocko for example) -
How is this even possible? The whole titlebar with menu etc. suddenly was at the bottom! See this!
-
well, another concept with searchers might be a "ballot screen". Let people decide which search will be default after they install Vivaldi.
Though, because of money it would have to be set for some big one (bing/google…) as default but if no other policy state that you can't do a ballot screen... do it, duckduckgo is search we (power users) want - even it's missing search by time horizont... (results only from last week, month etc...)

The typed history button is nice, thanks
Some bugs:
- The vivaldi icon in the windows sound mixer is too big.
- The delete button in the typed history doesn't work.
- Right click in url bar: "Paste and go" isn't translated (german).
- Right click option on marked text: "Search for …" isn't translated (german).
- Right click option on images: "Open link in background tab" isn't translated (german).
- Right click option on images: "Reload image" isn't translated (german).
Request:
- Open a new tab on double click behind the open tabs (tab bar between the + icon and the trash icon) instead of resizing the window.
- Add favicons to the closed tabs trash dropdown.
- Show typed history button every time (not only on speed dial and if i click into the address bar)
- Show the full url in the address bar (it doesn't show the "http://" atm, i need to click in the address bar to see it).
- Redesign FTP pages.
-
Will the upcoming beta have the mail client?
-
I suspect you must be copying it to the wrong place. You should be copying it to the same location as the file that is just named "bookmarks" (after renaming or removing that file). In Windows it's Users/(you)/appdata/local/vivaldi/User Data/Default/Bookmarks

Dates
If you use our sort by date feature (for recent pages) there is a date displayed next to each domain. s:d
… You can use that feature by typing s:d at the end of the query (which is short for sort:date) or by typing ! ... date at the end of your query (which is our sort-by-date !
"
(still work???) -
Please:
make a DEFAULT settings toggle to open a selected link in a new tab
Thanx, -
@Ruarí Ødegaard:
When you open a new tab you now have a small downward facing arrow to the right of the address field. Click on this and you can access URLs you have typed previously.
The downward facing arrow is also available on the current tab, but only after focusing the address field. This could do with refining so that it's always visible
-
it's kinda tricky and I know about this. Though, it's not enough similar to the feature I miss (but it's a bit off topic to discuss it in here… Vivaldi's blog)
