Snapshot 1.0.288.3 - Geolocation support
-
Tab cycling with the mouse does not show thumbnail previews while cycling with Ctrl Tab does. Is that intended?
-
VB-8481 Web panel should use a mobile/tablet User Agent by default
VB-6005 Change interval of UI Zoom slider to 5% instead of 10%Great additions!

Nope. To be fixed. Stay tuned.
-
What are the things you wait for fixing? Do you have bug numbers?
-
Edit: Alright, so after playing a bit with this snapshot, I found out that my Speed Dials thumbnails remain unchanged - no images whatsoever. I know this isn't the final fix, but seeing how some people are already reporting their Dials back, I want to know what's wrong with my end.
Vivaldi 64-bits, WIndows 7 64x.
Same here. Windows 10/ Vivaldi 64bit

Do you have bug numbers?
Except the immediate bug wizard's feedback page I don't get any helpful confirmation - for instance, an email to my @vivaldi.net address mirroring what I've put in the ticket and including the bug number for later needs.
Frankly, the deployed, strictly one-way ticket process is really a nuisance and reduces motivation to use it more often. At least for me.

Even after 2x reload? That seems to be needed at this time, but will be fixed.
-
2X reload here is seldom needed. And for a few sites, multiple multiple reloads never succeed (he said, having tried a dozen times without success on a page, and then after closing speed dial and later returning to the folder, it works first time). Then, of course F5 is not triggering reload.
-
2x reload seems to be working for all of the speed dials I tried till now, thanks!
EDIT
As "Ayespy" mentioned, some sites just wont show a thumbnail whatever you do.

VB-357 - Notes import on Linux (from Opera 12.x)
needs some love
-
I have to say, thumbnail fetch is even better than it was before it broke. It's faster, more reliable and more accurate (for instance showing the actual page for a service you are ALREADY logged into, rather than the login page).

I ran into this too. I don't have time to try to fix it right now, so I downgraded to 1.0.279.3. That means I can't look at the exact error message, but when running the command "vivaldi-snapshot" from a terminal, I got a message mentioning that the sandbox wasn't configured correctly, and advising me to make sure that the necessary files existed and were owned by root.
Could you please post the output of "vivaldi-snapshot" from your terminal? I'll try the upgrade again later today and see if I can figure out what's going on (assuming it's an issue with our computers and not a Vivaldi wide issue).
-
Had the same problem. Solved by running this command in the terminal:
sudo chmod 4755 /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/vivaldi-sandbox
-
[6211:6211:1001/210850:FATAL:setuid_sandbox_host.cc(158)] The SUID sandbox helper binary was found, but is not configured correctly. Rather than run without sandboxing I'm aborting now. You need to make sure that /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/vivaldi-sandbox is owned by root and has mode 4755.
Aborted (core dumped) -
now today's snapshot is marked in red and flagged ¨out of date¨ in the AUR
-
zombie's solution worked for me.
By the way you can downgrade the vivaldi package with:
cd /var/cache/pacman/pkg/
sudo pacman -U vivaldi-snapshot-1.0.283.8-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz -
Thank you for everything you are doing. Vivaldi is a salvation in a world of simple browsers without anything. Functional, comfortable, beautiful and fast.
I also thank you for fix of speed dial thumbnails. Sometimes still they doesn't refresh but you probably know.
The remaining one important thing for me (not counting the e-mail client ;)) - opening bookmarks.
1. I can not open multiple selected bookmarks at once from the side panel / bookmarks manager
a) from the context menu (select disappears)
b) by the press Enter
2. I can not open bookmark from speed dial in background (with CTRL)Above + stabilization and you will win the Internet!

Should we expect any performance improvements in the next builds? Call me paranoid but I was loving the focus on performance a few builds back and since the focus has turned mostly on bug fixing I'm getting a little worried.
The speed dial page is the biggest culprit but start up speed, tab dragging, mouse gestures in speed dial and bookmarks management, to name a few, are all in need of improvements.
-
The problem is due to a change in the Arch PKGBUILD, which was made due to a misunderstanding. This was perhaps partially caused by a tip I gave to the package maintainer (Ike Devolder, a volunteer of ours). Anyway he has fixed it now. Check for an update.

BUGS: Youtube, videos stutter badly and the page layout is static regardless of window size. Other browsers stretch to fill the page rather than have it always centered.

https://copy.com/B1QJGiASoCKLl7HHI also keep having speed dial folders randomly disappear. One start up and they are there and next time they are not. Not sure what to even complain about causing this behaviour. Multiple folders in that nav bar can appear to be selected(not just highlighted) at the same time by right clicking on them.

Text input is very laggy and often times backspaces on it's own causing typing errors. This is most evident in the bookmarks manager.
