Snapshot 1.0.258.3 - A quick fix for languages and improved tab selection for easier tiling
-
I you are on Ubuntu and using Unity (the default desktop manager) you can maximize window with Ctrl-Super-Up.
-
Regarding next to active and other tab things, take a look at SimpleTabOrder extension. It mostly solves it. It is still imperfect, some tab flickering is noticeable, so I am looking forward to native support too.
-
I would also like something like load everything, but do not render until tab activated. Should be worth it even while not perfectly achievable: like some script/css/img tags generated dynamically.
-
Hi, Opera 31, I dont remember Opera 12… always I am using Maxthon...
-
Two more things.
Pretty essential and should be easy to fix: allow different default search engines for the search box and the address bar. (As a user, I want a dedicated search box for Wikipedia but I still want to be able to google things through the address bar.)
Will take some more effort: allow users to add more search boxes, whose search engines can each be set separately. Without this, no interface can be called 'fully customisable'.

- History
- RSS (online)
- Twitter (online)
- Calendar from my Google account (why not?)
- Switch between tabs if there are a lot (then I'd like to remove tabs bar)
- Win10 Notifications in sidebar (great idea, isn't it?)
-
Some websites do use silverlight for streaming. The performance is a killer if you compare it to flash & html video players. It's sad that Vivaldi is just a different version of Chrome browser, even the new poor Opera is supporting silverlight.

BUG:
I generally like to be able to hit ESC to cancel tab switching during CTRL+TAB. In most applications, this works as follows: I hold CTRL, press TAB at least once while continuing to hold CTRL, decide that I don't want to switch tabs anymore, and press ESC, then release CTRL.In Windows, CTRL+ESC normally activates the start menu (haven't tested on win8+), and most applications that allow ESC to cancel CTRL+TAB tab switching capture the ESC so the start menu does not activate during the sequence described above.
In Vivaldi, if I press ESC as described above during tab switching, the start menu activates, which also removes active focus from the Vivaldi window. When I switch back to Vivaldi, the CTRL+TAB visual display remains present despite having no keys pressed at all.
Also, PLEASE bring back the hold-right-click + scroll wheel tab switching!
Edit: FEATURE REQUEST: CTRL+SHIFT+TAB scrolls through opened but unseen tabs in most-recently-opened order, so that CTRL+SHIFT+TAB after opening a new background tab will switch to the new tab. So the tab queue would look like this:
CTRL+SHIFT+TAB starts here and moves downward through queue
–------------------------
most recently opened and not seen
2nd most recently opened and not seen
3rd most recently opened and not seen
...
least recently used tab
2nd least recently used tab
3rd least recently used tab
...
3rd most recently used tab
2nd most recently used tab
most recently used tabCTRL+TAB starts here and moves upward through queue
Thanks!

I'm using Vivaldi x64 on Win7 x64 and hold-right-click + scroll does not work. I doubt that 32/64 is what makes this difference.
I didn't know about the hover tab + scroll wheel. That's cool but I still want my hold right click + scroll wheel

- History — It's just the matter of time
- RSS — web-panel (later sidebar-panel)
- Twitter — web-panel
- Calendar — web-panel
- Switch between tabs through sidebar instead of sidetabs? =O
- Win 10 Notifications? But you have sidebar Central Action for this.
-
Actually, the x64 may make the difference. 32 on 64 works fine here.
-
Tested and no, tabs scrolling with rightclick + mousewheel works on neither 32 or 64 for me.
-
Aha! It works ONLY if visual tabs is OFF! I'm not sure if that is intentional but it should work either way!
-
Just ran into this bug: http://i.imgur.com/nF6hM46.png
I have a Dutch windows 10. I installed Vivaldi in the 'English' language, because I hate none-english browsers. So everything in vivaldi seems to be in English, with 1 exception… the updater. The updater is in ... dutch...

Known bug.

At this point, I'm happy if the snapshot comes until Friday. Please, don't make us wait until next Monday!

Maybe look at it from another angle. Imagine you started to build a browser, you a have a community which is supporting you but also wants new features discovers bugs, strange software interactions and so on and so on. If you want to keep it a bit economic regarding time, manpower and money, I am pretty sure that if someone comes up to you asking: "Hey, what about that Silverlight thing? It is pretty fast and in some points it even outranges this html thing" your answer won't be " sure implement it, the company who builds it already announced its dead and support throughout the web is decreasing, but lets spent time, money and manpower on it."
What I want to say in short: of course you can make it, but please be honest, there is lots of work to do anyway for Viv so why would you implement such a feature if it doesn't even pay off in long term? -
I think what operatica meant by "visual tabs" you can find in
-> "Settings"
-> "Tabs"
in the lower right corner there is "Tab Cycling" and there is a checkbox for "Cycle Tabs Visualy"
It affects the behaviour if you switch through tabs by pressing "crtl" and hit "tab" multiple times -
Love the browser. One thing that would be good however is a 'find in page' button.
-
find in page ? Strg+f should do it?
Got another problem:
Downloaded some big file almost complete. Due to my sadly slow connection I needed nearly 2 hours. Then I opened accidentally a second browser window. And by closing it, both windows disappeared. And there was no 'resume' for the download, just a 'start again'.
Ok, I know, it's just a snapshot. But nevertheless, please consider solutions for such problems as soon as possible. For now I'll not gonna try downloading bigger files with Vivaldi anymore.
