my vivaldi portable in refresh ?
-
Import Data from Opera 15+ works under Linux but crash with clean install without ~/.config/vivaldi/ and ~/.config/vivaldi-snapshot.
workaround: delete the file "Local State" from needless ~/.config/vivaldi/
@Dev Petter, rurai
Why exist the folder ~/.config/vivaldi/?
Vivaldi read and write the "Local State" from ~/.config/vivaldi-snapshot
here: vivaldi://local-state -
In the last snapshot, the setting "Switch Tabs at Edge of Maximized Windows" was added, but as i was too lazy to update, I only just got that feature in this snapshot, but though i see the feature in windows, I don't see this setting on mac?

Well, we will do some before beta, but as a preparation for it, not in the middle of an alpha. As I stated once before, there's no point in optimizing code that will change at a large scale or even get replaced completely later on. Wasted resources.

Hi,
selecting a specific search machine using the keyboard (up/down) doesn't work. It uses always google.
When I'm delete my private data the speed dial previews disapear. This should be an option. And, only a suggestion, keyboard navigation in speed dial would be great. And a keyboard shortcut for deleting only cookies.
Despite of this, great work guys ! I'm using vivaldi as my only browser since TP2 !

3 tabs on Windows 10 and Debian Stretch 64-bit. Debian opens is a few seconds quicker.
Bug: I had to enter my username (Vivaldi keeps forgetting it here for some reason - possibly me using various browsers to log in. No real idea.) and as soon as I clicked yes to save password the browser quit. On reopening the info was set. Kind of weird.

Feature Suggestion for 'Notes' :
1. The option to store things other than plain text… for example the ability to copy Link Addresses into notes would be pretty useful (for when you're researching...). this way you Right Click on the link and have the "Store Link Address as Note" option.
2. The ability to Clip some part of the page as the Attachment Image (not the whole page). the whole page sometimes is a wasteland ! if you could clip, you'd be able to store the important part of the page as the Note Attachment…
3. The ability to Copy/Paste all of the notes as was present in Opera 12.x => you could select more than one Note and copying them ("Ctrl + C") would copy them with a Line Separator so that you could paste all of them somewhere else as a group of Separate lines of text…
One of the most important uses of the Notes feature is its use in Researching so It'd be great if the Development Team could focus on adding new features to Notes regarding that...

A few snapshots back I mentioned a bug in the comments that sometimes when you open up a link from a site the original and the spawn "die" but rest of vivaldi still's functional.
After a bit of testing i figugered out whats a possible cause of this. Sometimes I have to use a pretty underwhelming netbook to surf so I have not that much RAM (only 1GB in fact) when you are close to the maxed out point of RAM and then open up a link with big contents (lots of pics vids etc) the newly opend site goes down but also the site from where I started the new tab. (I am a little confused by this because I thought every tab has its own process so how can one tab kill another?)
I can reproduce this with a chance of about 76% (yes I indeed tried it 35 times and counted it, first I wanted to go with 100 but I got bored)
And before I forget to mention, this is also reproduceable on normal pc's (so please not only blaming my netbook ^^) you just have to keep your RAM busy.
As far as I can tell this happens with a higher probability if you stay on the same website and open up a new sub. (like: "vivaldi.net/en-US/blogs/teamblog" next press crtl + click "Read More" on one of the snapshot postings)
Funny thing is I tried to do the same by using "duplicate tab" but it didn' work, at one point vivaldi crashed in whole but not only the related sites

By the way, when using the Dark Theme, the Red/Blue Progress Bar in the Address Bar is too hard to see… that Red/Blue on that Black ?
it's nearly invisible... -
Tiny suggestion: When panels are placed on the right the statusbar should also display the panel button on the right side.
Something else I already wrote some time ago: When tabs are on the side the pinned tabs should be displayed the way they are displayed when tabs are on top (small favicon boxes ontop of the other tabs. Side by side, when more than one).

Hello Developers,
Great work on this snapshot, it is running smoother and faster. Did you guys made any optimizations, this snapshot consumes less memory. Regarding the rewind button I have a suggestion:
–--> Whenever the users takes the mouse cursor over to the rewind button, the URL to which the browser can rewind to can be shown in the bottom taskbar, this will most probably make it easier for new users confused about it function, the ones who don't read the development blog. <----
Thanks again for the new snapshot.:D

If you're on Windows, you could try ClipCube, I found it handy for researching. Text-only clipboard manager, autosaves links, notes are taggable and mergeable (for copying out).
Anyway, good ideas for Vivaldi! +1

Icon to Show/Hide Panel on Wrong Side -
Thanks. I didn't know about that. I have the address saved as a bookmark so typing the beginning of "extensions" into the address bar is actually a little faster for me.

1. Issue with "Site info" window (click on green lock-icon at address tab) and window with info cut under screen bottom line (screenshot: https://yadi.sk/i/t0wH2atiiBt8L)
2. No search field for navigate stored passwords and no possibility to edit stored information. When stored many passwords - It is very difficult to manage this information. -
You can manage your passwords at vivaldi://chrome/settings/passwords

Win 7 64 Bit, 233.3 Viv
I had same problem the global UI size setting. Scale does not work or lock on when in setting it is set for 110% new tabs or old do NOT resize correctly.
Anxious to see end product that I know is far away….I will NOT be happy to HAVE to change to Windows 10 and induces new problems. So far updating I could care less about as long as it WORKS!
Thanks guys...and gals??

Win 10 appears to change your Vivaldi experience approximately 0%. Except that the better resource management of win10 seems to speed up everything,

If you're familiar with how software development goes, that's really how it is depending on the environment. You'll just have to live with that. Alpha->Beta->Stable is normally the process. There are other phases in-between with some companies. Like they said, they put in improvements from time to time. But that's not a priority. Beta is mostly for bug squashing and performance. So you'll just have to wait until that rolls in. All the best we could do right now is report issues and hopefully be addressed regardless of what phase.

Little add-on to this post.
As some side effects you can't use any kind of vivaldi specific key combinations on the dead tabs, while on every other tab this is still possible.
So "alt+F4" still works cause it a win native but if I press "crtl+3" or "ctrl+L" it doesn't. If I select a still functional tab with the mouse and use those they work again. If I switch through tabs by "ctrl+3" and come by a dead tab I got stuck.
just wanted to share this
