Snapshot 1.0.231.3 - Draggable tab bar, favicons in the address bar and spatial navigation improvements
-
And still the wish for grouped tabs: There should be drag&drop of the screenshots in the tooltip to reorder them.
-
Confirmed… Windows 8.1 x64
Complete Uninstall seems to fix the problem which leads me to suspect changing something in the "Settings" may have some connection to this bug...
-
Is there a button for the address bar drop down? If yes, i can't see it. It would be very helpful to see my typed urls.
-
BUG: When I try to print domain for example translate.google.com, i try to select only domain with SHIFT + ARROW but he does not work
-
He might be doing a non-standard install, so that he can have multiple versions of snapshots, side-by-side.
-
When wil there be a decent bookmarks manager? It's almost impossible to re-order your bookmarks.
-
Stacking of pinned tabs is actually a temporary bug that's there because we are doing some major restructuring behind the scenes for speed improvements. We'll disable this again eventually.
-
Thanks a lot for your work, the development rate is really impressive!
Two questions about the tab bar:
- When I switch tabs using the mouse wheel (while holding right mouse button or hovering the bar), Vivaldi misses some steps. For example, I quickly roll the wheel for two steps, but there is only one tab switch instead of two.
–> Is is something which is currently under tuning or is it worth filling a bug report? - When the switch direction is set to follow the tab bar order, I think a "up" wheel step should switch to the left tab, but the contrary is done. Could this be inverted by default?

You can change tab cycling order in settings.
-
No, we don't check your location at all. Maybe your installer defaulted to another choice? What's the language of your OS?
-
Not yet.

Nobody wants to see Vivaldi being final more than we do, but it's not magic, but hard work. Our team is doing a great job and you cheering will make us do even better.

I second all the praise and thanks!
How can I file a bug report? Sorry for asking this. The SSL certificate information thingy is broken on this Win64 build – screenshot: http://imgur.com/8C1kiJW -- happened to me when I went to https://blog.fefe.de/ (self-signed cert), clicked the HTTPS lock icon and "Certificate information"; it crashed Vivaldi.
On a more general note: Presto had this super good and one-in-a-kind text selection behavior. I've always disliked the text selection style provided by Webkit, Chrome, IE and Firefox. Single click=nothing, doubleclick=word, tripleclick=sentence. Could we please have this back? Also, I noticed the Chrome'ish [Ctrl]+Shift]+[Left/Right] has an awkward notion of what a word is inside editable elements (INPUT, TEXTAREA). The Presto-based Opera handled this much better. A trailing space, for example, shall never be selected. I dunno if this should be handled upstream at Chromium, but we actually come here to see things done better than at Chromium itself
IMHO, the way Webkit/Chrome visualizes a selection as a "block" always sucked and still sucks: perhaps it is useful for web devs, not useful at all to "normal" people who want to work with the text on a page.

Oh, on self-signed certs: Vivaldi should handle certificates itself. Windows certificate management sucks. Being aware of your handful pages with self-signed certs and getting rid of this painful n00b-nagging-will-never-go-away "warning" (imposed unto us as just another major atrocity) would be a huge benefit. They say it's SECURITY, I say security starts with the brain in front of the keyboard (oops, did I offend the tablet users?^^)

I know I'm a demanding guy if only because my mind always goes to Vivaldi Mail, but I've to admit you guys bakes new stuff at a crazy pace!
Kudos to the team.Btw, I've had a problem in the 1.0.228.3 with extensions, not sure if it's because extensions support it is simply at an early stage. Anyway, after I've added a few extensions, even if I close Vivaldi, it hangs in there (I can see it from the task manager). Just a minor thing for now, as I can't find any use of the extensions anyway
Edit: and yes! Bug is gone!

Will the notes work like in the old Opera someday? I need the “Insert Note” option a lot.
-
Hey guys nice one !
Middle click on sidebar bookmark opens a new tab, be nice if it immediately displayed it -
I can't believe how impatient people are. Only started on it 7 months ago…I guess it means some REALLY like it. Opera got NOTHING done in two years but spinning their wheels. These things take time.

First of all - thank you SO MUCH for the "tabs to the top of the window" feature! Very much appreciated! I feel very bad about saying this, but it doesn't seem to detect being maximized in the window manager I'm using (StumpWM) Is there any way I can make Vivaldi think it's maximized all the time?
I've already tried using wmctrl and the various functions in my WM to redraw the window (it defaults to maximizing them, only when splits are used are they not maximized). This happens in Vivaldi's native window mode as well as the non-native. Pressing Vivaldi's maximize button has no effect - there is still a gap (and the "maximize" icon never changes to the "unmaximize" one), and clicking the top pixel of my screen does nothing. It still works fine in Chromium. I recognize that this is probably due to my configuration somehow, and realize it's probably low priority. Keep up the great work otherwise, you guys rock!
