Snapshot 1.0.212 - Mouse gestures with touchpad!
-
Performance tweaks and major bug fixes are normally given priority in beta stages. Alpha builds are more on features and enhancements. The team did say they include performance improvements in snapshots every now and then.
That said, considering we're almost at TP4, personally I would put more focus on performance leading to that.

Switching between two tabs have problems as I can't see the tab that is shown just after I close one tab.
-
There does seem to be a Major problem with Chrome, which can be found across the web
The following link, typically highlights one of the fundamental problems:-

I really hope that Vivaldi will get to terms with this/these, problems, so that their release
is more akin to the Opera of old; If not, then it is a non-starter. -
Thanks for the fix Hope they correct this in next version
-
Okay I admit this isn't a terribly "informed" opinion so bear with me.
I was an Opera user from the old ad-supported years. I quit when they switched to chrome. No one was more excited about Vivaldi then I. I have been preaching Vivaldi since I first discovered it. Yet, I'm still waiting for the hope / dream to become real. I download every update for both Windows & Linux. Many aspects / features are great and remind me of the old Opera days. But, overall, I'm still disappointed. I quit recommending it to friends. I find it slow, buggy, and unpredictable. Sometimes features work, sometimes they don't. Sometimes a page will load sometimes nothing happens. I would say it's my computer but I also run the chrome clone SrWare Iron and experience no similar problems. Often (against my desires) I run Iron for browsing just because I have no confidence in Vivaldi.
Is it just me or are there still a lot of basic stability, functionality, and speed problems. I've even been disappointed with Vivaldi web mail. Sometimes I wonder if you folks don't really have the resources to tackle all this. That's okay, I CAN wait. But tell me these issues are only temporary, please. I want to love Vivaldi and once again recommend it. Please keep at it but give me a pep talk. -
Patience, my friend. If Vivaldi isn’t ready for you come back in a year. This is software at it's beginning of life. It has only recently come into existence. It is improving and surely will keep getting better and better.
-
This is gestational Vivaldi. This is not yet Vivaldi. You're getting a look at it MUCH earlier in its development process than you normally see any software.
-
Bug:
- Open https://www.bizarrepedia.com
- Open any link in new tab (background)
- The sidebar is messed up, doesn't happen if you open in foreground
-
But from what I have been reading, Vivaldi is no better than a Clone of Chrome; Now if
they had started developing off the back of Chromium– the original open source project--
there may be a better Browser.
NO Browser should EVER cause any system to Freeze, if it does, then it is not Fit-for-
purpose, so I return to Opera every time, and as a second option, QupZilla.
The Easy option was to start with Chrome, but Chrome arose because: You can really
trust Google: /s
When you see that google loaded proprietary software, then one has to consider the
implications w.r.t. Vivaldi. -
Since when did Observation, Experience and Suggestion, ever become trolling; Or do
you not accept criticism? -
Using Blink really has little to nothing to do with Google and the various conspiracy theories connected thereto. That said, Vivaldi has had little to no optimization effort devoted to it as yet, and until it does, one may expect it to be the worst sort of resource hog, as many Chromium browsers have proven to be. It is possible to tweak the browser code to reduce HDD writes, RAM usage, CPU cycles consumed, etc.
Of course as soon as Vivaldi starts doing this, OTHER "show stopper" problems will also arise, and need to be addressed. I'm willing to wait and see how they address Chromium's universally known and universally despised problems. It's inconceivable they will not do so.
-
Same here. On whatever site where I want to save the password, Vivaldi crashes but seems to save the password because on a restart, it logs in with the saved password.
-
Well I tried to have some life away from my computer this weekend but each time my hands did happen to touch the keyboard and mouse I was so happy to use Vivaldi; it's working so well. It's come a long way in a short while and the journey is just starting. Now I am anticipating a new snapshot this week and expecting more improvements. It's great to be part of this project. Just sayin'.

This might have been answered before, but I don't know where….
Vivaldi opens super slow on my machine in Windows 10 (it takes at least 30 seconds to load initially). 64 bit Vivaldi. Is there any way to fix this? Do I need a new profile? Fresh install?
-
From feedback that I have received, Vivaldi/Chrome on 64Bit OS, is significantly crippled compared to the 32Bit version; Also, seems that they may require best part of 8 Gig. of
RAM, if it is not to Stutter or Freeze. -
- Mouse-Wheel gesture when hovering over tab bar should be optional
- markdown in notices doesn't work at all (has worked partially in a former release)
- make pages resizeable, when tiled
- possibility to assign a keyboard shortcut to toggle the tab bar
- I cannot reproduce this: when reopening a page from the trash bin last time the page has been opened in Chrome (btw. Vivaldi is registered as my standard browser)…
- impossible to register ixquick.de as a search engine (no such entry in right click menu) It was possible in a former release though
-
BUG - create two tabs group, reboot browser - then he crash
-
I noticed the default path for the 64-bit installer is "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Vivaldi" instead of "%ProgramFiles%\Vivaldi".
-
Can't confirm. Defaults to "Program Files" for me. You probably have a 32-bit install already? Then it'll probably pick up this path…

I'm the bad guy today again.
We are working on getting TP4 ready. But next build will soonest be available on Wednesday.
