Snapshot 1.0.190.2 Startpage customization, UI zooming, auto-update on mac and more
-
Thanks for delivering autoupdate on Mac on these release!
I regularly check the blog for updates and changelogs, but from now on will more on the changelog side -
no problem here with the same resolution (fullHD monitor) under W8.1
-
You know, one just simply hate "workarounds" still, not only acknowledged people are willing to help
(for example my mom since I just hijack her PC and have installed this build there instead of Chrome ) -
Not possible to launch anymore under os x 10.6.8
[Vivaldi cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Vivaldi works with this version of Mac OS Xβ¦]
No issues with any build up until now.
Is it only me? -
Amazing progress! But now that you focus on UI and design, I'll just remind you that the Vivaldi logo and the close/minimize buttons in the corners are still low-res on HiDPI screens. Please fix that.
Also, is there a way to hide the bar at the bottom? I find that I don't use it.
-
- CMD + T still opens up two tabs on mac. Still
- Unable to use tab stacking when I position my tabs on left or right side
- We need extensions! I know we can install them, but without GUI some of them are simply useless.
- Still high CPU usage and battery drain.
Frankly, the number 4) is what's bothering me the most. Fans run constantly, making my mbp 17 loud, even tough it isn't loud at all if I'm using other browsers, or most of other apps.
I feel like you really have to optimize Vivaldi before putting in some new functions and fancy design choices.
Other then that, you guys are still doing a great job, so keep it up. I will continue to upgrade and hope that those few things are sorted out
-
For starters I'd like to say that I really like Vivaldi, I appreciate what you do. The new snapshot is great, animated backgrounds are brilliant. I do however have a complaint, or a bug I suppose. When you move the bookmarks around they easily gets displayed if you are too fast, see the screenshot. It's not a big issue and I'm not very bothered by it, but still.
I'm running Elementary OS Freya (Ubuntu 14.04) x86.

"VB-5717 - Select in searchfield dropdown should invoke search"
Very nice. It's working now. Thank you -
Still working on customizationβ¦.you should wait a bit.

We gotta give the team some slack. It's getting there. I believe they want most features out the door first before doing major performance tweaks. When beta comes around that's the time to go full throttle with bug reports and performance improvements.
-
Great work! :roll:
Although it would be better, if it was a separated zooming for Startpage and other UI elements.
-
Reported already using the bug wizard in some builds ago, I'll just comment it again right here.
Whenever I login in Disqus via the Login button in the comments section (not the Disqus website but any website that has Disqus support), whenever the save password dialogue pops up Vivaldi crashes just right after I click on "Save Password". Happens every time.
So far I only noticed the bug on Mac. Can't reproduce this on my PC, at least for now.

Is there any way to move multiple bookmarks through folders? Selecting while holding shift moves only one.
-
I fiddled with ffmpeg and made an example which is OK. https://www.dropbox.com/s/xea87q5ihtsm4rh/aurora.webp?dl=0
I'm looking for a source video better suited for a loop. -
YES! It's finally here! And as always, here are the issues I've come across:
Snapshot 1.0.190.2
-This snapshot is more sluggish when compared to the previous one;
-Re-sized UI makes it hard to read, as the font is also re-sized but not optimized for that format;
-Trash Bin icon is closer to the center of its row, rather than to the right-most side. It's annoying seeing that open space with nothing there;
-Mid-button click on mouse does not work on Speed Dial, despite there not being enough lines to create a scroll bar;
-There is a space between the first tab and the edge of the row in the left-most side. Again, annoying empty space;
-Upon closing the browser and opening again, all my session data was lost, as well as my history on the Trash Bin. This has happened before in the same fashion, whenever I first closed the browser after updating, but never lost all the history data;Issues from previous snapshots:
-Issue with Youtube comments, only being able to reply;
-Issue with Google Plus connection, impossible to receive notifications on Youtube page;
-Disqus doesn't log in with Facebook;
-Disqus doesn't stay logged in between sessions, requiring the user to log in every time you input a comment;
-Impossible to log onto FB in third party sites for commenting;
-Able to log onto FB via third party sites through the "Reply" button, but impossible to comment, attempts result in error messages;And to recap, my wishlist:
-Apply, Cancel and Default buttons to the Settings window;
-Better interface for the Vivaldi Task Manager (like coloring each row differently for better view, and color coding for tabs that surpass a certain amount of RAM/CPU usage to be determined by the user);
-Possibility to change the SD background image, if possible for each individual folder;DONE
-MSE & H.264 for proper HTML5 support (we've been through that, I know it's gonna be hard to implement, but I like playing the annoying guy);
-Images centered when enlarged as opposed to shoved to the left corner when opened on their own tabs;
-Expand stacked tabs;
-Option to have stacked tabs generate new tabs on the same group;
-Customizable options to the bookmarks bar (such as font size, how many items are displayed before the following items get hidden, if hidden items are allowed or not, second and third rows available);Somewhat dealt with by UI re-sizing, but still far from proper customization
-Have and option to allow each tab to show how much RAM and/or CPU they're consuming;
-Downloads page (like the old O12 had);
-Customize how search (Ctrl+F) works (if the box will be left on top, center, bottom, right or left corners, if the page will darken when searching, highlight colors, etc. )And finally, a wishlist of fixes to this new snapshot:
-Being able to resize Speed Dial thumbnails separately from UI resizing;
-Change UI font size;
-More size options (95%, 85%, etc.);
-Change each UI element separately;
-Freely change Tab Color, not needing to match the site's colors.As always, test has been made on a Windows 7 64x, Intel i3 3.0 GHz CPU and 4GB RAM Memory, no Video Card.
Again, thanks for the build. I hope the Beta version will finally introduce the much needed MSE & H.264 codecs for HTML5 support (it's quite annoying watching Youtube videos in 360p when it can go up to 4K) and a have less sluggish experience.From the looks of it I'd dare to say by December we'll have the final version, but I guess I'm being too optimistic. Either way, I am almost making Vivaldi my Default browser - I only open my O12 now if I want to give a quick check on my e-mails or need to run a program that uses a lot of RAM at the same time. If only you could make those Memory leaks go away, I'd make Vivaldi my default browser right now!

Yes, by editing common.css, but in Settings yet.
Search for #tabs-container.top{padding-top: and set values to zero pix
-
No problem here either, Windows 7 Ultimate, 64x, at a resolution of 1920x1080. Vittorio and tamino15, what are the OS, screen resolution, monitor and PC configuration you're using? (like CPU, Video Card, RAM Memory, etc.)
-
Can't I believe I forgot to put the Youtube player thing on my comments. It really is hard to make the bottom controls show up, and the mouse does not disappear when idle. Also, there are some weird lines in the bottom and right side of the video player in full screen mode.
-
That's a really nice idea. I mean, security patches are needed, but other patches might not be. And for whatever they do, Vivaldi might do better natively, so I think there should be a filter to what Vivaldi will utilize. But again, I don't really understand much about those patches, soβ¦
