Why is this browser so bugged. Help needed.

@mixElll Go into task manager's Details tab, sort by Name, and terminate any
msedge.exe
processes. Stupid Edge loves to stick around in the background even when closed.Or try going into
edge://settings/system/systemSubPage
and disable:
Startup Boost
Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closedAnd you seem confused about Opera vs Edge, different browsers.
For Opera it'sopera.exe
-
@Pathduck Did what you advised there are no edge processes in the background and I turned off "Startup Boost" and "Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed". However the issue is still there. Should I provide more data like some screenshots?
-
@mixElll Are you trying to import from Opera or Edge?
If Opera obviously you need to check for
opera.exe
processes.A screenshot of the import dialog might help understand what you're doing, like this:
However, I don't have Opera GX, just regular Opera.
-
@Pathduck I'm trying to import from opera gx. I tried shutting edge processes down because the other guy told me that it might be interfering with importing from opera gx. Also I'm using this site to import:

-
@mixElll Yeah, skip that, then go into File menu and Import...
-
@Pathduck It worked but there is no sign of my previous extensions and passwords. There is also only a bit of history which I don't really mind. The only thing that worked completely are the opened tabs but I really want to import passwords and extensions.
-
@mixElll It worked for me, importing from standard Opera.
I get a new folder "Imported Bookmarks":
It also imported all my passwords from Opera no problem.
Again, a screenshot of your import screen might help.
-
@Pathduck Here

@mixElll And then the result screen?

@Pathduck After:

@mixElll Maybe import from Opera GX is broken, I don't know...
Anyway, you can export your bookmarks and passwords at least from Opera and import into Vivaldi from files. The rest you'll just have to redo I guess.
-
@Pathduck Is there any tutorial on what file to copy from appdata and where to put it?
-
@Pathduck I only need passwords. History is optional.
-
@mixElll You don't copy files from the profile.
https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/tools/import-and-export-browser-data/
You export Bookmarks as a HTML file for import.
You export Passwords as a CSV file for import. You might try copying your History file from your Opera profile into your Vivaldi profile but this is not supported and might not work at all or crash stuff.
Extensions that have been installed from the Opera Store will probably not work in any case.
