Privacy Without Compromise: Proton VPN is Now Built Into Vivaldi

Funny...To connect to a VPN I need connect a VPN first...
-
Brilliant features Vivaldi. Thank you!

@pitape: In Vivaldi you can add custom ad blocker and tracking blocker lists in Vivaldi settings
Pitape said "integrate some filtering from ublock origins".
You can't do what Pitape hopes to be supported. These filter lists are incompatible because the built in ad blocker doesn't support the syntax of these lists. He asked for "ublock origins" filter lists, not just ABP compatible filter lists. -
@Aaron That must be the secret firewall filters (Ugliest Worst Countries Firewall) some countries like to run.
-
What about an exclusive Vivaldi feature for Proton addon - no Vivaldi account required (or any other accounts)?
-
uBlock Origin mv2 built-in in Vivaldi when?
-
@Stardust And better fingerprint tracking protection as it seems Vivaldi's UI is responsible for giving a unique (unchangeable) canvas fingerprint.
-
OK, it's nice to have the VPN built in. But being unable to disable it per tab without paying extra is absolutely ridicoulous! I should be able to choose for which tabs I want the VPN
-
@pgaa: you may have to allow third party cookies on NRK, TV2 , etc.. I had to do it for Swiss TV live to work.
-
I am so happy with this partnership. Given that I use both products (Proton Unlimited), I see this as a triple win situation. Win for Proton, Win for Vivaldi and Win for the consumers.
-
@electryon: Exactly. I wish Vivalid's ad and filtering system would on par with the basics of ublock origin in 'easy' mode.
-
@stardust: If Vivaldi were run by Rod Serling, the Proton article would have ended with a slow pan over to the big reveal: that the Proton extension is MV2 and will always need to be for what it does. Cue music.
Note: the above is a work of fiction, gallows humor. I see the comet approaching as well as the rest of us, I just don't want to look up.
-
Wow!
Awaiting to test it!Thx

Could be another exclusive Vivaldi feature for Proton VPN addon
-
Cool but I don't like that it's stuck to ProtonVPN. That's a solid default, but it seems all the VPN button does is act as a shortcut to the Proton extension, so theoretically it should be able to work with any VPN extension and that would be a nice option to have.

I had no idea that MV3 affected VPN extensions too and not just adblockers.
I don't use VPN extensions but if Vivaldi made it easier to quickly enable VPN addon without any account required - more people would try it.

I have to assume this was a joke, but to make it clear the Proton VPN extension is Manifest v3.

Ridiculous scam!

Synchronization problem again. I turn off the browser, turn it back on and every time I have to log in to my account even though I have the ' save password ' option enabled. What is going on! I'm starting to get frustrated with all this already.
