Yep, I never reload speed dials if the have an icon. 🙂
Hrm, this report is for Vivaldi 3.8.

        @Mido
Hi, this is an internal bug report number, if a user report a bug it get such a number.

        Cheers, mib

VB-<number> is the Vivaldi Bug report number you get when reporting a bug using their bug tracker https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/ - I have reported that "Logo thumbnails for speeddials can only be set by removing and readding the SD" and this report received the number VB-79298

Makes you wonder why some people say Vivaldi seems unfinished at times

Usually on Win11 running Vivaldi Snapshot builds. Opinionated about working efficiently with email. Folders are evil | Mail workflow: receive, read, reply, mark as read, done.

For example, vivaldi.net has a nicely designed one

Yes, but... its aspect ratio is not suitable. All that's left of the word "forum" are a few annoying pixels.

The bugs mentioned by mib2berlin and WildEnte are still present. The image is only added to the thumbnail if you create the bookmark in that very specific way and if you reload the thumbnail, it resets again to the page screenshot.

Hi, the report was updated several times but it has a low priority.
Add a custom image and never reload it is the only way to get good looking thumbnails
This feature request have many votes but it is not even tagged as NICE TO HAVE, that won't happen, I'm afraid.

In another thread I added the path to the default icons, may you can use some of the 270 images.

                https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/105563/add-pre-made-bookmark-thumbnails-back/5#:~:text=%40Andrecon-,Hi%2C all premade,-thumbnails are stored

Fair enough. I read the whole thread and from what I got this feature request was actually implemented, but it has these two bugs.

                  I obviously misunderstood it then

                  Thanks!

@mib2berlin I can't even get a custom image to stay in a speed dial entry. It simply never stays, and there is nothing in the forum about this. Anyone got any idea why it doesn't work (and yes, it is a small image on my hard disk)

Hi, I mostly use custom images on my start page, except two:

                      8cf03dd4-8569-48e5-b477-9ce841306e0d-image.png

Sometimes the sync feature mess up single thumbnails and I have to add it again on different devices but it is rare.
Where do you store the images?
I remember issues if they are stored in the Vivaldi folder in User Data on Windows.

@mib2berlin I had copied the jpg from elsewhere to ~/Desktop and used it from there.

people upvoting (or fakevoting) for nonsense like this is the very reason why vivaldi hasn't captured a big enough marketshare. so many more things deserving of more votes still isn't completed.
