Video Size Limit?

Hi,

I was wondering about the video size/time/format limits in Vivaldi blogs. I'd like try to export a suitable file that would look best within the limitations.

Hey! The size limit for media files (images, videos, etc.) is 5 MB.

@jane-n It'd a real challenge to export a nice video within 5MB limit, even if it's as short as mine. It's a bit of a bummer but it's understandable.

@jane-n 5 MB for video is not much.

@tamam User needs to re-code for smaller display size or other codec for smaller file size.
For this try programs like handbrake of ffmpeg on command line.

You could host the video elsewhere and use the embedding option to include it in the blog post. Click the blue + button (Toggle block inserter) in the top left corner and scroll to the end to see the various embedding options.

@DoctorG Usually I work with Media Encoder. But regardless from what one uses, 5MB won't cut it. The limit may work with animated content but for video, I don't think it would be really feasible.

Wow - that's really a tough limit!

I thought I'd try the Vivaldi blogs to compile a travelogue of photos and videos from various family members. I immediately hit the 5MB block (literally the first set of photos uploaded were each over 5MB), so I came to this thread looking for the official size limits.

Resizing a couple of hundred pictures to be under 5MB is a pain but I could live with it. Applying the same limit to videos means I can forget about using this blog...

Edit: I understand the need to limit storage, but I was hoping for a simple alternative to selling out to the big tech websites.

@mossman Sad to read that the the restriction insufficient for you. I do not know why Vivaldi Blog is so restrictive. Could be to protect against large uploads/resource consumption. As i know a default a WordPress installation has 2 Mbyte upload size.
