How has your day been?
-
@milkis I feel with you. I know what you mean.
I hope you are safe. Stay strong! Stay alive! -
@milkis
If you are not a spam account, not a troll, not from Putin's web army, who also infiltrate forums and messengers, I welcome you here in our 'Vivaldiverse'.If it's different, we'll see.
Hoping it's not, try not to be depressed, don't despair.
Exchange thoughts form coalitions, even online.
But always be very, very careful.
There are no easy solutions, inform yourself well.
Be aware that the Kremlin is very vigilant and tricky in these matters.Protect yourself and your family!
This applies to all totalitarian states.
Vivaldi is a good choice for now, but it won't be enough for long, long.
Avoid large forums and well-known messengers for political statements.
Use open source software and choose servers from Europe.Please be really careful,
difficult things can happen, and not just for you. -
@ingolftopf, Thank you for being so kind to me. I use Matrix Element for secure communication. Our website was blocked once, and I was able to protect the media from the second time.
-
@milkis
Good choice, have a look at 'Briar' too.But these are all just technical crutches.
Remember, the biggest problem is always in front of the devices.Trade with understanding, consideration and heart.
If someone find [Matrix] or 'Briar' on your devices, there's a problem.
There are Open Source solutions for this, but be careful.
-
@ingolftopf, Thank you for your concern. But I use Matrix in the browser, but it's more or less safe.
-
@milkis
'Thor' is not a panacea either.
And please be careful with online advice if you can't judge the source.Especially on the 'DarkNet'.
You're sure to end up in the Kremlin.
There are lots of 'honey pots' there.You need a complete package.
There are no easy solutions.
You're dealing with highly paid specialists.My knowledge is not enough to be able to give really good advice to someone from a totalitarian state.
Perhaps @Shpankov, the head of the Russian Vivaldi Forum, can help.
"Private messages" here run via Vivaldi's own servers in Iceland, which operate in accordance with the 'European General Data Protection Regulation'.
But are not end-to-end encrypted. -
@milkis
But I'm sure that here are also specialists in our Vivaldi community who are well versed in such things.You could try to get in touch with them and then hold discussions via the Open Source video conference 'Jitsi Meet' via a trustworthy server.
Talking makes things much easier.
-
I would also like to receive more detailed information on this topic.
There are said to be only around 1000 Vivaldi users in the huge country of China.
The people there will know why.Contacts there on this subject are very difficult.
Of course, you don't want to put anyone in serious danger.
But I'm sure that the Chinese government is already keeping an eye on our beautiful Vivaldi forum.
Like several totalitarian states.

Very committed that you are already using the opportunity to create a free blog here in the 'Vivaldiserve',

I shouldn't even write a post. I was care giver for parents for aprox 10 years. They lived 50 miles apart and I worked 60/70 hrs week. I learned to be happy with 3 hrs sleep a day. I retired early in 2021 to care for them without the job, only to loose them to covid weeks after retirement. Havn't had a good day in years.
I think I was so preoccupied with parents and all they needed, I was kinda blind to the world around me. These past few years have like future shock to me.
I use to be really good with Linux back in the 90's and early 2000's. Took me about 5 re-installs to get a solid Linux system running and get back up to snuff with all the changes I was behind on. Created a media server, wrote some scripts and am pretty happy with it today. I may break it tomorrow though. I cant help but tinker with stuff. I wish I could build a time machine!

@Leighsong Past is past and it is gone. I hope you'd be comfortable to stay in the now and take care of yourself first. Welcome to Vivaldi Forum.

@iqaluit Thankyou. Great advice! I do try. I was fortunate enough to be best friends with my parents. Unfortunately I was naive to think I could nurse them back to health as I did so many times over years, believing they would out live me. Everything i did, I did with one truth. Failing is not an option. Dealing with the now, as difficult at it may be, I must do. They were so proud of me. I'll be ok. They taught me how to be ok. It does hurt though. Alot.
Vivaldi kinda fascinates me. Firefox and Opera are good browsers I got accustomed to. Vivaldi makes me think of me. The black sheep that wasn't suppose to succeed, but overcome all odds and succeeded anyway. Just my take on it. Thanks for the welcome!
