Tab management leveled up, more efficient browsing and squashed bugs: Vivaldi 6.9 is here!

@chalex2020
Hi, both should work, who knows the URL's of hundreds of tabs.Cheers, mib

@dpn
Hi, stacks/groups are not synced, just a missing feature I guess.Cheers, mib

I think it is important that in addition to this kind of changelog, which is not useful and is not understood by the vast majority of users:
[New][Blocker] Add support for uBlock ‘important’, ‘all’ and ‘redirect-rule’ rules (VB-108228)
[New][Blocker] Add uBlock option aliases support (VB-107194)
It is reported when the adblocker supports one of the default uBO lists (De facto standard), more or less like this:
[New][Blocker] Support of “Adguard - Ads”.

That's a shame. I've added a Feature Request if anyone is interested like myself in such a feature.

Thank you! I'll be able to get rid of two tab renaming extensions.I too, wish I could get rid of the 2 renaming extensions, but I can't because a new renamed tab title longer than 55 characters gets cut off, and because the renamed title does not persist when the tab becomes a bookmark.
-
@jsosmd Yep ... I spoke too soon ️ Me too — no persistence. Oh well, and darn. Maybe one day.

@jsosmd
Hi, what do you want to add as name, a novel? < This is 48@cherylfahling @jsosmd
The name lost is a bug, a fix is in progress.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin Sounds great — look forward to it!

Could anyone advise how we integrate the new uBlock functionality/filters as stated in the below changelog notes?
[New][Blocker] Add support for uBlock ‘important’, ‘all’ and ‘redirect-rule’ rules (VB-108228) [New][Blocker] Add uBlock option aliases support (VB-107194)

@ArtemMoshkovich It means that the Vivaldi blocker has better support for the uBlock ruleset.
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Static-filter-syntaxOriginally, the blocker supported only the (limited) Adblock ruleset.

@Pathduck Appreciate the reply, Pathduck. So, to be clear, is this an internal, no-change/no-input required blocker performance improvement? Or, alternatively, is it something that users needs to enable/activate via settings?
-
@ArtemMoshkovich It just means the blocker supports more rules, nothing you need to do

File dragging

@mib2berlin: No, not a novel, but I am a medical professional who writes medical papers and you can imagine how so many of the chemical terms can be annoyingly long .... But I do appreciate your humor, and - more than that - I appreciate the many times you have attempted to help me out with some Vivaldi problems.

@jsosmd
This is a bug and fixed internal already.
Stay tuned. -

Stay tuned.Thanks; the fix for the length of the title-rename would be very helpful.
But what about the lack of persistance? - that the renamed title does not persist when it is bookmarked? - is that a bug or a bad design needing a feature request? - having it persist when bookmarked would finally enable me to get rid of 2 extensions, which is, after all, consistent with one of the noble Vivaldi design goals!

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but now whenever I scroll through my bookmarks and close the side bar and then reopen it again, it automatically goes to the bottom of my bookmarks list. I'm pretty sure before this it either remembered your position/always started at the top again. I put all my most-needed bookmarks at the top, so I'm pretty sure this is a bug.

Congrats to the 36 people that wanted tab renaming since 2018.
Now if only one that actually impacted everyone using the browser (disabling directwrite font rendering) was actually implemented; something Cent has had for years since Google deprecated GDI rendering.

Vivaldi 6.9 is great here!
The best got better! -
@djbiker: The organized matched up tabs are great! In any case, I'm actually wanting to some time or another sync work areas, and open a similar work area on my work area and my PC.
