@flyeric777 I suggest report issue to Vivaldi bug tracker. Once that is done, share the bug number (beginning with VB-) you got by bug report mail.

The report has been sent.
Again, the bug appears with all extension which using an email counter.
Not only gmail checker plus, also yahoo mail notifier (only a permanent question mark instead of the number of unread emails), x-notifier neo...With these informations, i guess that the problem doesn't come from gmail checker plus because my other email extension have the same behaviour.
the problem didn't occur before this version.it looks that the bug come from vivaldi's last update

In fact, I noticed that the problem is not limited to email-related extensions, but affects all extensions that require their appearances to be updated. For example, when I use a VPN based on an extension, the state of the VPN (connected/not connected) is visible on its extension icon. However, with this bug, the state of the icon is not updated. Therefore, the problem is deeper; it does not only affect email-related extensions but all extensions that need their appearances to be updated.
Is a Moderator could rename the Topic by:

While waiting an update, is it possible to go back to a previous version ?
Because it's disabling (at least for me, who uses quite a few extensions).
Also, is there a link to choose the desired version, because I actually have doubts about when the issues started.
I don't remember if it was the last or the second-to-last version.Thank you all.

Hi again, it is not recommended to downgrade Vivaldi, different Chromium versions and many changes in the sync system, for example.
You can install an older version as Standalone install and copy your default profile over.
It depends on your workflow and he usage of sync if this is practical.
The bug report gets higher priority but we never get any timeline. -

If i install this one (standalone) will i get all my bookmarks, extensions and preferences kept ?

You need to copy your profile folder "Default" over to the standalone install of an older version.
Delete the existing folder before you copy.
The path to the profile is published in File > Help > About -

Hi, there are thousands of reports, I report one a Year ago and still not fixed.
Such bugs get lower priority, it doesn't stop Vivaldi to work like a crash, for example.Cheers, mib

@flyeric777 I think, this wrong display of numbers is not a serious bug, such get lower priority for a fix.
Yes, we all have our pet bugs which needs fixing.

So, i decided to downgrade to a previous version as it is very annoying for me.
I understand the priorities of each one but i cannot wait for a possible release, so i go back to 6.8.3381.46 which was working fine for me.Finally, and please don't take this the wrong way as that's not my intention, but I don't think the bug affecting the display of all extension icons is a minor issue, given that we constantly have to open a new tab every time we want to see the refreshed extension icons.
Moreover, everyone has their own perspective, but even for emails, there are no real-time notifications anymore since we have to open a new tab to refresh.
Anyway, I'll stop here, as the goal is not to argue but to move forward. I simply gave my opinion on how I perceive this bug.

️ Downgrade is not supported by Vivaldi Team.
If you have broken profile data now, we can not help with fixing.
And do not hope that an other upgrading will help. A broken profile will stay broken and not repaired by upgrade.

I am sorry but i don't know what you mean by "broken profile" and how it affects my experience ?
In fact my goal is to uninstall my current version and then install the version that i mentionned above.
But maybe Vivaldi while seeing that i got back to a previous version is going to break my profile ?
Not sure to understand.

@flyeric777 Perhaps i explained not veryx good: Downgrade to a older Vivaldi version will force Vivaldi browser to use the older Chromium core and such can destroy important data in your browser.

I noted your warning.
I only use certain features in Vivaldi, the two most important ones for me being the favorites on the left, as well as bookmarks, history, downloads, and Chrome-format extensions.
Additionally, the ability to synchronize my favorites and history in the cloud, as well as page tiling, are important. Everything else, I really don't use.
So, I will try to downgrade at my own risk and with full awareness.
Don't worry, I won't bother you if something goes wrong, and in the worst case, I will immediately make a full backup just in case.
