V 6.7 | Crashes at Start
-
@DoctorG With these commands, you are trying to repair the Windows structure. It won't help.
-
I know what causes the browser crash. And I already talked about this on the forum.
But it turned out to be of no interest to anyone, first of all to the moderators. -
@DoctorG It is a laptop that my company owns and I use it for office/accounting work. But we do not have any special restrictions. We have a router and a firewall.
The issue is with Vivaldi on the laptop w11, but not on the pc w10, same network .
I have now reinstalled windows and reinstalled vivaldi from the downloaded file this morning.
And now it seems to be ok. -

I read and checked the forum this morning but didnt find anything that worked, that is why i asked again.

Oh, was a broken Windows installation on your side? Really unexpected. Because you tried a repair with dism and sfc.
Well, seems a malicious gnome had spellbound your Windows. -
-
@DiaArge reinstall Vivaldi it will definitely help. There have already been tips to rename the profile and reinstall the browser. And bring the profile back. It's a bit of a long way to go. I know much shorter. I'll try this way too when the browser freezes.

@sphera You are not a helper, you always try to be unpolite and offensive.
You are added to filter now. -
@DoctorG you're looking for someone to blame, safe for yourself. I have a solution to quickly restore the functionality of the browser, without deleting it. Are you interested in this? Or are you more interested in questions of politeness?
You added me to the filter. And here, outside the filter, is there really knowledge of how Vivaldi will cure? From a position of benefit to the forum, we need to switch places.
I remind you: the forum is dedicated to the Vivaldi browser, and technical issues. I have already shown the browser freeze situation on the video 2 times on the forum. The videos were deleted by the moderator. The video is not from Hollywood from the red carpet, not from Paris from the stadium. It was Vivaldi.
@DoctorG, You're talking about politeness and resentment ? Evaluate the actions of the moderators from these positions.
-
@sphera hi, could you help me with that solution of yours? I'm crashing all the time with the browser, seconds after starting it. In the past it helped to spam the icon button until after 5 or 6 crashes it suddenly worked. But now this no longer helps.
what I tried without success:
-
all the cmd line startting variations (without extensions etc)
-
private window
-
delete/rename sessions folder
-
updated to the latest version (6.7.3329.39)
I have no profile logged in nor any sync active
I read somewhere else, that a crashing/corrupt tab might be the issue. But yesterday, while it was still working, I closed the browser normally and shut down the PC.
I do have 4 workspaces and countless tabs open and I need them all. So erasing everythign and starting fresh is not an oprtion.many thanks for any help!!!

@daniel I just sent my crash report as well. I kept having this issue over and over. Sometimes it goes away for a few days, but then comes back. I always keep my system and browser up to date.
thanks! -
@DoctorG I have the same issue. For me using
start vivaldi --user-data-dir="%TEMP%\TESTVIVTEST"
works, but renaming the sessions folder did help. I created a bug report and attached my crashlog -
@loigloig That means the Vivaldi Session database was broken or a tab in last session caused the crash.
-
@DoctorG ok, so how do I fix it? also, why does it happen so often?
