How to disable auto-complete but keep the popup list?
-
This may very well be a bug, but can also just be that I am unable to figure out how to configure it correctly.
Currently if I type something in my addressbar, if I haven't been to that site for a long while (or I cleared my browser history after that, but I've been to one of the sub pages, whenever I type the url in the addressbar, auto-complete shows me that other page, and it is really difficult to not go there, but to the site I actually want. I can disable the popup list entirely and the problem goes away, but there are countless times when I actually do want that list.
Basically, I want the list to show up, but only use one of the options if I use arrow-down to select something, then press enter.
How do I set that up?
Here's what currently happens:
And these are my settings:

Really? No one?
This bug is really bad. I guess I finally have a reason to switch to another browser. Really sucks, I love Vivaldi so much, but this is really bad.

@LPChip
Hi, I think this is caused by the Drop-Down Priority list settings.
First I would disable Direct Match and Best Result or better all what you not need/use.
Then change the order as you need.
I use this settings: -
I tried that, but the problem is, the only way to get it to always work is to uncheck everything, and I do actually want my typed history. I just don't want it to auto match unless I actually select it and press enter.
The weird thing is, the auto complete is turned off, yet it is auto-completing. So I'm very sure this is a bug.

@LPChip
Hm, this is what I get with my settings: -
@mib2berlin Because you have in history only that address what you are typing.
But LPChip is typing only part of address in his history and it loads the full address from history instead of what he typed.

Still not working for me, but I found out, that if I type a / at the very end of my url, it will not auto-complete. Very unintuitive, as the setting to not autocomplete is set correctly, but ignored. But if I have the following url in my typed history:
www.somedomain.ext/page/subpage3
And I type in somedomain.ext, it will open the subpage3 one.
But if I type in somedomain.ext/ it will correctly open the page I want.
Now its still frustrating, because everytime it happens It first autocompletes, then I'm like: Argh, shit browser, edit the url and add the / and then I can go there.
