Count unread messages only from inbox
-
Is there any way to change the unread messages counter to only count unread messages from inbox, instead of all the folders? Just like Gmail does.
In this example you can see that Gmail counter says (8) in the tab, inbox only unread messages. I have other labels of archived emails having a lot more unread, but the gmail tab only says (8). That's exactly what I want to achieve in Vivaldi. Is there any way? Vivaldi is showing a counter of (151)
Thanks in advance.

Go to email Settings and look for "Highlight and count unseen messages"

@TheBalrog are you checking the number in Vivaldi in All Messages - Unread or in All Accounts - Gmail - INBOX?

@TheBalrog ah. Go to the view filters above the message list and disable showing "custom folders". That might do the trick.
The core of the issue is that GMail has an extremely quirky nonstandard implementation of the IMAP protocol, abusing folders as labels. Vivaldi has done some work to adapt but that's not complete. Thanks @WildEnte but I'm might be misunderstanding, because as I said I only have "All accounts" checked in the "Mail Panel Order and Visibility" settings. "Custom folders" is already unchecked

@TheBalrog have you expanded the "all accounts" view? This is how it looks like for me.
Screenshot from GMail first, taken in the "All Accounts" and showing only unread messages.
Let's see what we have here, marked with colors:
4x Green: Inbox
4x Yellow: Important (not sure why GMail doesn't have a counter there)
3x blue: "not in INBOX" = Archived (it's a thread of 3 mails showing as one line item)
5x red / hidden in message view: unread spam emailsNow the same thing in Vivaldi Mail ... same counters
There may be a sync issue involved. You can right-click any folder and choose Advanced - Rerun filter for folder.
