in FFN
i really want july to hurry up & get here, coz more & more i feel a bit left behind with the old ESR 115 base of
floorp
, when Nightly gets lovely things like this:https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/127.0a1/releasenotes/#note-790132
127.0a1 / New / Bug 1890299
Starting with Firefox 127, Nightly users now have the ability to translate selections of text from the right-click context menu, rather than only being able to translate the entire web page.so...

Wonder what browser has supported that for a long time?
-
@TbGbe i don't talk to windozing horizontallers. icky icky ick!
otoh, i'm willing to indulge horizontalling penguinistas, coz they're at least half way there & so might still have a chance of redemption...
-
@TbGbe for the record, your taunt intrigued me, so i fired up snappie to test if its current contextural translator is any less useless than all the other times. i tried four different fediverse posts/toots, all different languages. it failed 100% of the time... again. this time it misassigned all as being africaans, then sulked with an error message.
still, at least v has its fab infinite nesting tst, its multiple pip [each of which can go fullscreen], its cname-uncloaking, its native wayland, its... oh, no, wait...

From my testing (Vivaldi local forums), you need to select at least five words - of course more is better.

That's OK. I'll still talk to you

so I'm back to it
https://distrowatch.com/?newsid=12128
FireDragon was rebased to Floorp, meaning we now profit from its interesting feature set.
I dislike Garuda Linux; it's not my cup of tea at all, but this news is quite interesting. Floorp's campaign for world domination expands further...
-
@TbGbe each test comprised >>5 words, being one or sometimes two complete paragraphs. even when i still loved v, its translator was frequently just terrible... & i know from the plethora of forum posts on it that i'm not alone in that view.
when are ya gonna be a penguinista again? how can you bear hideous windoze? enjoying all the ads?
-

What are ADS? Using Ublock still.
I'm waiting to see the new, shiny (delayed) POP_OS. -

yeah, i know; you've been hiding behind that story for mega-yonks now but all this time you could have been enjoying another lovely penguin, rather than windoze. like someone recently said... icky icky ick.

huh? how can a browser extension help with ads in start menu & file explorer? on dad's pc i've even seen them in the system tray. magnificent work, microshit!
-

Not here.
Although I do see MS Office being pushed when updating. Maybe you should show him OOSU10.exe -
@TbGbe holy cow, i just realised your local time! i see your insomnia / nightowlness has not abated, over all these years [um, i mean, weeks, coz i'm only noo here].
-
@ybjrepnfr problems.

true that's the "negative" of it, especially for us that are used to "always latest", but it's understandable for a 1-2-man project. Maybe the situation will improve now that Vrovaldi realised how badly they screwed it up with their choice (see menus+UI fiasco) and decide to fork Floorp with the name
⚽ Fifaldi
(sponsored by FIFA ofc -no more money issues-) and rebasing it on current gecko/quantum.when Nightly (127) gets
Thing is ESR will jump 8 versions to 123, that's still not enough/edit: phew that was not correct -
Fifaldi
ESR will jump 8 versions to 123
only 123? am i misunderstanding how we should interpret this?:
-
@ybjrepnfr you don't say? . I had the (false) impression it was always jumping 8 versions apparently, that's really great!
ESR has taught me how it feels being a Debian user

See you again soon! Thank for your using!
Floorp is almost ready to move to a rapid release basis!
dunno what this means exactly, but feeling potentially excited.
-
@ybjrepnfr Ah, very interesting indeed! Let's hope it is what we think it is . I was already semi excited reading
Floorp 11 is now in maintenance mode.
This means that the development of the next major updates, Floorp 12, Floorp ORIGIN, will begin.
, which I suppose is nothing more than the regular, mid-July, 128 release according to your screenshot, but that quote would drive excitement to another level. It's a bit contradicting/confusing though 15 days earlier saying "the future is uncertain" and now accelerating the pace, but hey it sounds pretty normal for tiny grasshoppers .
