@ybjrepnfr rats. sadly
esr
did not get that nice new FFR function, prolly i suppose coz of the whole concept of esr. sigh. sooooo, once again i really hope the dev is able to get us onto the FFR-version parity asap. -

aha, seems like yet another vivaldiesque feature might be coming to
floorp

I plan to improve the Notes experience.
I'll make sure you can use it the way you want to use it.

the flexibility of sidebery wins hands down
exactly this. Using
sidebery
feels like painting on canvas, with the nested tabs, panels and easy, "soft" way of manipulating everything, while what V has to offer is a stiff painful experience.woot!
I sensed it coming today

Not even a tiny bit of (new) information to be excited about, bah... . I think I should switch to FFN... this is just too slow for my taste...
(yes the experiment of building up (unknown terms like) patience and self-restraint with the "ESR" model has clearly failed, Ξ'm not a Debian guy damnit!!1)
I think I will be playing around with that "auto"-mod in Vivaldi until Floorp rebases itself... too much work to make FFN work+look like Floorp as well... crappy situation atm.

I switched to the
[kde-unstable]
repository todayLots of nice things in this 6.1-beta one, like
- The corners'/buttons' radii were changed from 3px to 5px.
- thus leaded to an also corrected (analogue) radius of the Overview effect, not that gigantic gnome-ish like
- The Desktop Grid got its (rightful) entry under Screen Edges at last (though it's still not perfect as it was in 5.x)
- The new, improved "Edit Mode"
- ozone-wayland problems fixed
- and some extra nice stuff here and there...
β― kinfo Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.90 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.2.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 Kernel Version: 6.9.1-arch1-2 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland
P.S. And with this one you get all the goodies with esync together with the nvidia 555 beta drivers for XWayland, I may try it later with my old Core 2 Duo+nvidia system as well. That was already behaving pretty smooth with those drivers, because some parts were backported to 6.0.4 iirc.

@npro i certainly share your frustration at the esr-slowness! even so,there's still some incoming features i'm excited about, mentioned recently by the dev in the subreddit, including that the tab split-view pane divider can be manually shifted, like in vivaldi; this will be very handy for me.
as i've mentioned many times before, though i like heaps of things in floorp, THE one thing i'm now addicted to [like in vivaldi ofc] is the independent dedicated webpanel sidepanel. if only i could code myself [but i cannot, alas] & then add this into the source code for ffn & compile it myself, i would jump back to ffn [though, i know in fact that's a highly silly idea in reality in that on my HW compiling a big browser from source prolly would take many hours, & ffn gets two daily updates!].
did you know about the ffn
larch
project? i installed it on my tower a month or two ago to check it out. it was a brief project for them to play with the idea of vertical tabs. it is terribly hopelessly crude; they have an awful lot of catching up to do. -

omz you're amazing! very brave of you, but i cheer you on for doing it. i certainly do look fwd to us slowpokes eventually getting it in the stable repo. still, could be worse, i could be on MJ

I think I've heard of it, but never tried it, I just forgot about it

"18-06 + days"... you can handle this?

don't mention this please... I feel embarrassed already by just knowing
someone
who has used that for a while (even when it was not that much...) -
-
@npro oh yay, it's come already, lovely [i don't know why but somehow i had the wrong idea it wasn't coming til the next big version jump].
heehee, so now you have another reason making it hard for you to go back to
ffn

@ybjrepnfr I found a good trade-off, on my old system (based on
linux-lts
) -which I regularly use- I continue using Floorp (where V-HWA works like a charm), and on my newer system (based onlinux
) I do what I said with V. and the auto-stack . Which btw gave me the opportunity to ask for another enhancement (who knows what the future can bring...) -
-
oh no no noooooooooooooo
now i feel sad.
-
In the past there have been upgrades from Floorp 8 to 10 and 10 to 11.
It is only about the release dateSo if I am understanding that right, they mean that previous ESR "moves" were somehow delayed but now they will try to be more punctual?
:damnit:
In this summer (northern hemisphere) I think I should take some meditation lessons...

@npro yes, prolly me too. cutterknife is not the dev, but does seem to work closely with the dev in some kind of supporting role, so it prolly means we have to accept this advice now might be accurate, despite it... IMO... apparently contradicting what i thought the dev themselves said recently. as such, this news today upset me so much that i began trying, yet again, to see if i could make myself be "happy" back in ffn. alas, the missing webpanels, & missing split tab view, are really hard to accept. so, maybe i should just come back to vivaldi? but that also feels uncomfy, coz i really really don't want to be stuck with chromium again, & i also definitely can't be happy with vivaldi's shitty tabs management compared to sidebery. all in all, this news today is a big bummer.
-
@ybjrepnfr yes that's why I was saying I'm also on a crappy situation atm
Let's give it some time, we can go through it... "ommm" "ommm"
-
@npro i'm just centring my chakra atm, inside my glass pyramid, clutching my purple crystals.
oooooh, poiple...
-
@ybjrepnfr oh, bugger it! tis my 23:20 atm. am gonna make myself a cuppa black tea, then update all my
ffn
bookmarks, containers, cookies,uBO
&stylus
AO data, et al, fromfloorp
, then... tomorrow i'm gonna try to use onlyffn
all day, notfloorp
.i created an extra tabs-panel specifically for those sites i use as webpanels in floorp. it's far less useful than an actual dedicated sidebar, but i'll see if i can live with it.
for the tab view splitting, i still have the
Tile Tabs WE
AO installed, which i'll keep using, even though it never works as well withsidebery
as it does withtst
.damnit!
