Sending/Syncing Tabs between devices not working
-
@DoctorG Thank you for reply. Maybe adding workspaces to mobile Vivaldi could bypass Chrome's missing send-to feature?

@belenus
Hi, there are a lot feature requests about workspaces, check @LonM page for searching requests.
It seems sync workspaces has many votes, first for mobiles is > Add it.https://lonmcgregor.github.io/VivaldiFeatureRequests/#tag=&req=workspaces&minscore=0&tagsEnabled=

Hey, there is a lot of off topic there.
I have hundreds of tabs to move from my android mobile to my desktop.
I wanted to do that with vivaldi native sync feature but not all tabs are synced, in fact, only those that are opened after sync feature has been turned on are synced.
As a workaround to not being able to add all tabs to bookmarks (which is already a workaround), you can move all your tabs to a stack/group and from here you will have the ability to select tabs, select all tabs, add all tabs to bookmarks. So from now, start opening by default =). -
@axiiom
Hi, really open tabs are not sync if the sycn feature is enabled later?
Did you check vivaldi://sync-internals and hit the Trigger GetUpdate button on both devices?
Sync need hours to sync all data, the Vivaldi team is working on a solution.
If this is not work I would call this a bug.
I will test this later.Cheers, mib
Edit: Disable sync, open 10 tabs, enable sync > Trigger GetUpdate > All new tabs are synced. -
@mib2berlin those tabs have been opened for a while but they never appeared in synced tabs on my desktop.
I finally tried to remove remote data, manually refreshed all tabs (swipping address bar) and manually triggered GetUpdate on both device and it worked, all tabs are now synced.Best regards.

@axiiom
Hm, I read reports the tabs get hibernated but I don´t use many tabs usually, maybe this is the reason older tabs are not synced.
Anyway, I am glad you find a solution.Cheers, mib

@DoctorG If there couldn't be a solution, Opera wouldn't not have Flow.
-
@Mido Feature like on Opera was planned to exchange data between Vivaldi devices. No timeline.

It seems that after update to 6.5 it is still possibility to send a website to another device, however it won't work on all devices and directions. I can share tab from phone to tablet, but that's all. When I try to send from tablet to phone I get message that it's only possible for users logged to their Google account. Sending to/from desktop doesn't work at all.

Hi, this feature was removed long time ago from the Chromium developers.
You can open synced tabs from other devices in the window panel, for example: -

Sending tab Windows/Linux Android rarely works, Sync of used tabs is broken. Known issue.

You can open synced tabs from other devices in the window panel, for example:
Yes, but not working send-to-device feature or lack of multidevice workspaces still keep me away from setting Vivaldi as a primary browser on my devices.

@belenus
I understand, which Android browser has multidevice workspaces?Cheers, mib

Multidevice workspace (which Vivaldi doesn't have) might be an alternative to send-to-device (which Vivaldi doesn't have too). However, there are other well established browsers like Firefox or Brave (also Chromium based like Vivaldi...), that have this feature, but they are at slightly lower level of customisation than Vivaldi is. Anyway, nobody's perfect.

That doesn't make sense. Chromium is just the engine. Vivaldi, Opera, Edge, etc add lots of their own features and functionality on top of the engine. Obviously it would be no problem for Vivaldi to build their own "share to device" feature completely independent of what "Chromium" is doing internally, but they choose not to for some reason.
I was a hardcore Opera fan until version 100 when they completely ruined it because "AI", but that's the one feature I miss the most, being able to reliably share tabs to my desktop.

Hi,
There are other priorities, even more being this can be achieved by other ways -
I'm not sure how to access synced tabs from my android phone.
from linux i can easily acess opened tabs on my android device.
-windows 11 tabs dont showfrom Windows 11, nothing is accessible. i get the qr code when clicking the cloud icon.
i never thought it would get on my nerves, but knowing i could use this tool, well... yep its definitely annoying
-
@Aluxonne I don't understand this. Everything works normally here, both on Linux and on Win11. Chromium killed the ability to "send" tabs to synced devices awhile ago, of course, but opening tabs from the sync cloud just works.
As I understand it, adding a page to reading list on Any device should cause it to show up in the reading list via sync on all other devices. Do you use the reading list? As far as I know, that's the only way for mobile to open things that were opened on another device. If there's a way to access the sync cloud on mobile, I'm not familiar with it.
-
@Ayespy
happy to know that sync cloud works for you.
thank you for pointing me the reading list, this is gonna be helpful for my mobile tabs , it works great on ervery platform.
