Unsolved Speed-Dial - blank thumbnails and not working bookmarks and folders
-
-
Thank you @DoctorG ! : )
-
12/08/2023 Problem only happened a few (8 or so) times since this morning.
-
Gee guys! It's almost 2 months since this issue was reported for a wide variety of Users and it appears to be pretty obvious that an update precipitated the issue. As a former software developer, interface issues are the most annoying of all. Having to continually drag my speed-dial icons around when they blank out is aggravating for a browser that purports to be mainstream. The further we get from the version that created the problem, the more complex the fix. Time to get er done!
-
I agree! We also don't know exactly what is happening, are they still working on it, are they making any progress or are they simply ignoring it and working on other things!?

Dev assigned, fix in progress and internally tested.

Beautiful! Thank you @ilprof ! Thank you!

blank thumnails here with Debian/Trixie/Sid, folders and bookmarks ok.
And, when there are blank thumnails, most of the time I go back ... and then forth again ... and the thumbnails will stay. (When there are no thumbnails, they have been visible there before for a fraction of a second!)

Solved with latest snapshot?
-
@ilprof Install the snapshot and test it.
-
@DoctorG already done before my post
it was hard, but I'm very happy -
@ilprof En fin, ugly bug is smashed.
-
@ilprof Please, as 6.5 is very near, you can edit your post, select in reply the submit button "Mark as Solution".

Iilprof has marked this topic as solved on

Not "fully" solved though, as animations (entering/exiting folders) don't work now.
-
@npro can you report this regression?
it was probably the animations that were messing up -

Actually the dev said some 30 days ago that it is a Chromium bug and they should find a workaround, well this is the workaround with the broken animation as the by-product.
-
@npro so you think they know and it's not worth opening a new bugreport?
-
Screw the bloody animations! If this works then I'm throwing a party!
-
@ilprof yes, as it looks like a patchwork until upstream (Chromium) fixes the real bug. But you could report it if you 'd want I guess, I'm not interested as it was ridiculous waiting for 3 months and have moved to another browser. Maybe in the future I will return.

Fixed on Vivaldi 6.5.3206.39 (Stable channel)
