Feature requests for 1.5

I want floated SideBar instead of Docked … please ...

Request: add the option to force "parental zoom" ie the new tab adopts the zoom value of the original tab.
In settings, Webpages, disable Use Tab Zoom
It should be a different setting, i made a case for it here: https://vivaldi.net/en-US/forum/archives/13358-features-requests-for-1-4?start=240#74411

Does not work, still uses default global zoom value.
I don't know why not. It works for me. I just opened your forum profile in a new tab. My default zoom is 120% but my current zoom is 220% on this page.

Neither do I but new page DOES NOT inherit zoom value.
Feature request still stands

+1 = I would like that good-old-opera-right-click-to-search-feature(TM) too!
-
CTRL + click should save an image.

Display link url on hover when the status bar is disabled - a simple inplace-tooltip would be ok (AFAIR, Firefox displays this tooltip at the bottom).

I don't know if this is the kind of feature request that could target 1.5 or just something vivaldi coders could put on the side and play with if they like, but Chrome is phasing out Panel API for desktop extensions and it's disabled by default in vivaldi, which renders extensions like panel tabs effectively useless in the near future.
Would it be possible to add a "Make panel" button that turns the current tab into an desktop panel rendered inside vivaldi?
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/panel-tabs/cafiainadjhopgdkmgcjiokknjkbhbha
Basically panel tabs lets you turn a tab into a small window in the corner of the screen that stays overlaid over everything else, kinda like a widget.
Sidebar fills a huge role in being useful, but I kinda want an easy way to do Picture in Picture so I can watch Netflix or YouTube while surfing without much hassel, which is where sidebar isn't as useful because it's more vertical then horizontal.
I understand it's an oddball request, and the vivaldi sidebar already exists, but the idea of being able to surf and have netflix playing in a fixed window on the corner of my screen is one of those features I'd find handy and probably use vivaldi more often just for it.
I guess the Tl;DR version would be PIP (picture in picture) mode for vivaldi.

Settings, Appearance, Status Bar, Show Status Info Overlay.
I really try hard to read every new release blog entry carefully, but it's impossible with the given pace of changes.
Thanks.

Would it be possible to add keyboard shortcuts to page actions ? Especially for the reading mode. For people (like me) who hide the status bar, accessing page actions is not very efficient. Tanks.

Sorry if this has already been requested (I did search, honest!) but I would kill for a kill elements button.
I use this power button just about every day in old Opera to get rid off annoying overlays on some sports streaming sites though I sometimes get better streaming quality when I use Vivaldi so I'd just use that if it wasn't for the lack of a kill button.
Opera is still my main browser and still cutting the mustard on most of the sites I visit, though I stick with it primarily because I'm a long-time M2 user. I use Vivaldi every day too - I much prefer being able to create several speed dial pages in Vivaldi, so I'm using it a little more these days because of that convenience.
The other Opera feature I really miss in Vivaldi is Search "with" (selection) in the context menu. That's another one I use every day so, unless it appears in Vivaldi, then that's another reason for me to keep it only as my "other" browser.

Here is my suggestions' list (most of them comes from Opera, as I'm still using it):
[ol]- Please add animation for tab closing (i.e. as Opera has). It happens that you close the tab and don't even notice if the something has been happened as closing happens immidiatly. But that visual feature would improve user experience.
- Popup list for bookmark folders of Bookmark panel should be shown according to the current folder behind the mouse cursor. Take a look on Opera or Firefox behaviour: click on any folder from Bookmark panel and move your mouse across the panel -> it will show the list of bookmarks according to the mouse position. But in Vivaldi you need to click verytime on exact folder to open its content.
- Please add possibility to move Web panel icons over the side panel.
- It would really useful to have "Settings" item inside extensension menu which can be opened by right mouse click over it. Now that menu has only one item - "Hide icon"
- Please add "Downloads" tab near "Bookmarks | History" inside Speed dial's top bar.
- Some sort of "Settings" button or at least menu item "Settings" for rigth mouse click would be really useful for the Start page.

I'm requesting a "Mute/Unmute" button when right-clicking a tab. IM's often use just a short notification sound to alert you of new messages and the sound button then pops up. But too often the sound is so short so that the icon is gone by the time i drag my mouse over there to mute the tab. Then I have to sit and wait with my mouse hovering over where the sound icon should appear, and wait for another sound until i can mute. It also might happen when I know a tab is going to make sound, but want to mute it before that happens. A little button for "Mute/Unmute" would fantastically solve all of these problems!
Another thing - when clicking "inspect" in the browser window, the size of the developer tools window will match whatever you're running the browser in. Meaning if you run Vivaldi in fullscreen and click inspect, it will open developer tools in full screen. My personal preference would be always opening developer tools in non-fullscreen (window-mode or whatever it's called), but this isn't really the problem. The problem is when developer tools opens in fullscreen, it's really unnecessary hard to resize it to window mode. There is no "X" or "resize" button showing, even when the mouse is hovering at the top. This means the only way (i know of) to resize developer tools is to enter misson control/exposé, hover the desktop where developer tools is in fullscreen, and click the resize/minimize window button that appears. Which is cumbersome to say the least.
Edit: It's also not possible to close the developer tools window with OS specific hotkeys for closing tabs/windows (in my case "cmd + w"). It doesn't matter if developer tools is in fullscreen or window mode, the only way to close it is by clicking "x" with the mouse. A fix for this would be awesome.
In other news, keep up the great work

- bookmark tagging (has already been requested before)
- "dynamic" bookmark-folders as an addition to the first wish. In firefox it is possible to drag-and-drop a tag to e.g. the bookmarks-bar, which creates a folder that contains any bookmark with the respective tag
[/ol]
Besides that: have you considered using a system like "uservoice" or similar to make the feature-requests clearer and to prevent repeating/duplicate wishes

Frequent requests:
3. More customizable gestures -> recently we released a new batch of new mouse gestures. Which ones are missing? a) FlipBack/Forward assignable, and default for Expand/Collapse Bookmark Tree. b) Middle-click assignable default for PageBar Open URL On MiddleClick, c) Go to parent directory command
I'd just like to be able to customize the Rocker Gestures with existing commands. I have mine (FF) set to next tab/previous tab, and just can't seem to break that habit. It is the only thing keeping me in FF - I check back at each version to see if this has been added. I hope it will be soon! Otherwise I am happy with the feature set.
-
1. Can we also have the ability to save/remember the custom zoom value for specific pages (lvl 1 domain based) even if you close it (not the browser - the tab)? LIke Chrome/Opera/Firefox do right now.
2. Ability to remove the sound toggle from tabs. It is super-annoying because I often click them randomly. I don't need this feature and I can't disable it

Sorting bookmarks inside folders differently.
e.g. i want to leave my bookmark folders in an individual order but need the bookmarks inside the folders sorted by name. may add an context menu for a folder to sort items inside it by namea shortcut for switch the tab postion
e.g. i want to move the tab at position 7 to position 2 via a keyboard shortcut.
simply instead of dragging it with my mouse, dragging it via a shortcut (may STRG + page up/down)
