Can anyone report if this SnapShot ver. 3201.4 fixes the VB-100720 site data bug? I don't want to update/upgrade until this bug is fixed so
I can't try this one until I know if it's fixed. Please let me know. Thanks. -
@ViewVille It's not fixed.
Remember, you're testing Snapshots to help Vivaldi find bugs. There's no point in not upgrading, then you might as well just use Stable.

I am testing version 3201.4, but I don’t know what error VB-100720 is, since there is no transcript of this gobbledygook anywhere. So speak more clearly...

Thank you! I usually do always use the Stable version but 6.4 broke the site data and Vivaldi feels very crippled to me now with how much I used
that feature, so I was only considering the SnapShot version if it fixed the VB-100720 bug. I'm not really a beta tester but I get what you are saying.
Thanks. -
Capushon, It's the site data permissions for cookies. If you goto chrome://settings/content/all you will see it no longer list out site cookies, data, permissions,
and storage. It just shows a page with no listings. VB-100720 was what was confirmed for this bug. -
@ViewVille Right, guess I misunderstood since you posted in the Snapshot topic. If you're still on 6.4 there's no point in moving to Snapshot, in fact I'd not recommend swapping between Snapshot and Stable. I'd certainly not recommend Snapshots unless you're prepared to deal with (even more) bugs.
Just read the Snapshot release posts to see if it's fixed. Or wait for Stable fixes. Hopefully it will be fixed at least in 6.5.
But I got curious - what do you use the siteData page for?
It's not something I'd expect users to visit frequently. I can't think of many cases where I've had to do it myself. Unless you're doing web development and need to clear data from a specific site, and if so the Dev.tools are a better choice. And there are extensions to help you clear data without having to even think about it.

chrome://settings/content/all
now depends completely on the new "Privacy Sandbox" system in Chromium, which we have hard completely disabled in Vivaldi due to privacy concerns about this entire system, this is related to this articleRetrieving information about individual sites is possible by clicking on the padlock in the address bar and following the menu.

@killchain Click on reload-icon! or secondary-click and reload each one.
all together is possible in bookmarks (other view) with this: update thumbnails

"Pressing Enter in address bar is slow with large history (VB-99872)"
Thanks! What a huge improvement (restoration of function, actually) in my Vivaldi usage. I type in URLs a lot and the delay in starting to load the page was really irritating. Now, problem solved.
It's unclear to me what that report meant. I took it to mean the issue that began a few months ago in which the address bar was slow to show results for those with a large history, but unfortunately it's not that, it's still as slow (unless you have a small history or disable history).

FREEZE-UPS
After the last snapshot I had a number of weird irregularities but they all cleared up with this snapshot, thank you! --- except for my continuing problem with freeze-ups, lasting circa 45 seconds, after opening some tabs (not just YouTube, but ordinary sites that I visit routinely); then all of Vivaldi is frozen and no other link, button, or tab responds. Often, but not always, the mouse curser changes from the usual arrow into a horizontal double arrow, sort of like this: <->. After the freeze is over, everything is back to normal for a while until I encounter another tab that causes a freeze-up. Yes, it occurs in a brand new Profile without any extensions and with just a few other tabs open.
I've run out of ideas; anyone with suggestions?
Thanks.

@rseiler The address bar is still slow to show results, but if I don't wait for it to autocomplete and just press enter, the expected result (the result the address bar displays after the autocomplete lag) gets loaded immediately.
Guess this is some progress. This indicates the actual lag is not due to logic getting executed in the backend but something to do with UI updation speed.

Boy-oh-boy... you had my heart fluttering.
Just got:
Vivaldi 6.5.3201.4 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Revision e58766c37ced2e53f5f8ccd68e3f195bfafd980c
OS Windows 10 Version 22H2 (Build 19045.3693)A few issues on the install:
- V opened and seemed to operate OK until I tried to close a tab. Would not do this in any form, the 'x', Ctrl+W or the Rt Click dropdown menu
- Same issue trying to lose V until I used File > Exit
Then V would not open unless I used the command line.
After the download and closig the previous version it "seemed" to re-launch very quickly. Perhaps it did not have enough time to fully initialize (?) A longer delay needed maybe before restart?
After a few minutes V was back up and running, seemingly properly. I was about to use FF to report this when V finally restarted and the above issues disappeared.
Should I report each as a bug, or was this just a glitch in the install? -
do anyone get rss updates since this snapshot?
Windows 10 22H2

@daniel
I confirm that feeds are not refreshing.
Last update is before updating to this snapshot (6.5.3201.4). No single feed for two days.
Manual refreshing works.
Different feeds set to different refresh intervals, from 15 mins, 2hrs, 6hrs, daily to weekly. None is autorefreshing. -
@rseiler: I have a large history, and for the past month(s) Vivaldi has taken ~15 seconds to start loading any typed URL. With this release, I am back to the previous responsiveness: type a URL, press <enter>, and the page starts to load with no delay. I don't know why I see the improvement but you don't.
-
@wpcoe I'm just talking about seeing results (the addresses) when I start typing, not the part that comes later, which is loading the selected site (which was never slow for me) by hitting Enter or clicking it, which I don't recall ever being slow. If we are talking about the same thing, then I'm not sure either.
Also, see previous response a couple posts up from @trishul about what the fix seems to be about.
