I can't add a lot here other than I'm having the same issue on Ubuntu 22.04 and 20.04. Clicking new tab then allows the speed dials to properly work. also clicking the quick settings icon and changing their appearance (thumbnail size) allows them to work. of course, i also have another issue since the same update where links that should open in new tabs show an about: blank until i click back on the tab stack. seems like an update that probably works great if you wipe out your entire profile and reset all your settings.

Hi, the bug persists in a fresh profile, the tester always use clean profiles to test reported issues.
The about: blank issue is bug VB-100538, confirmed.Cheers, mib

Yours was a dupe. Please follow VB-100225 "Speed dial folder thumbnails do not show up sometimes" - Confirmed.

The bug with the empty thumbs in Speed Dial is not fixed yet.

OS LinuxI am pleased to say that the situation is much improved. Mostly the folders in Speed Dial open to show functional tiles now.
However, I am sad to say that the problem is not entirely gone:
