Vivaldi failed to launch on macOS 14

Guess I will just wait to update MacOS... not about to risk not having Vivaldi...
-
I just didn't update until the newest update passed

Same problem here. Have Mac Mini M2 running MacOS Sonoma v14.0 with Vivaldi 6.2.3105.58. Vivaldi crashes immediately upon opening.
This issue began today as I was using Vivaldi. Surely something exists to cure this issue. -
@Al1972 You'd think they'd get it figured out- especially as Chrome and the other browsers aren't impacted similarly. I'm afraid the longer I use Safari on my Mac, the less incentive I'll have to return to Vivaldi once a fix is provided.

I would note the most recent "Snapshot" build- 3160.27- does load and appears to be stable under MacOS Sonoma v14.0 (after running for a couple of minutes).
My problem is although I had Vivaldi syncing my activity- bookmarks/history/etc.- when I enable "sync" using this Snapshot build, nothing is imported.
In the absence of Vivaldi Sync functioning as I expected, is there a way to move my last browsing session into the Snapshot environment so I could pick back up where I left off when Vivaldi was last running on my Mac Studio? Thanks.

This issue is driving me crazy. Happened twice today, and after deleting the complete user folder and reinstalling Vivaldi the first time, I am now on the edge of throwing the damn browser in the trash.
Has anyone a quick fix? Which folders / files to delete to fix this problem? (avoid deleting all)
-
I did the hard work and found out that the issue is inside the Library / Application Support / Vivaldi / Default / Preferences file.
Delete this - and I'm able to launch Vivaldi again. Still don't know what causes the problem though.

Thank you!!!
This doesn't fix the root problem of course... but it did let me unearth my old profile directory backup that I've been sitting on for almost a month.
Vivaldi devs: if you read this thread at all, I have two preferences files that I'm keeping around in case you want them for analysis. One of them causes Vivaldi to beachball forever on launch, and another causes it to crash on launch.
-
Just to confirm I've had this problem for a while now. When I launch Vivaldi I see it bounce in the dock for a second then it dies. Re-installing makes it work for a day or three but then the issue returns. Bug report already raised. Using a backup browser for now.

Just got back in town from travel. Surprised to see this still hasn't been fixed? What is the ETA for impacted Mac users to again have the ability to run Vivaldi?
-
Hello, Apple Macbook Pro M1, macOS Ventura. I was working normally on the browser, which turned off. It is impossible to turn it back on, after clicking the icon the application closes immediately. Restarting the computer, reinstalling or uninstalling and reinstalling Vivaldi does not help. Any ways to fix it?
Edit: The newest snapshot version is working without this problem.
-
Has this been fixed? There was a bug report - has it been responded to? Ventura 14.1 came out today. I depend on Vivaldi but do not want to fall behind updates to MacOS. Please fix issues...
-
Unfortunately I am having the same issue. I have had to delete the ~/Library/Application Support/Vivaldi/Default/Preferences file at least twice today to recover from Vivaldi not launching. Each time I have to sign back in and set up sync.
-
Unfortunately, in my case the problem occurs on the Ventura system, not the latest Sonoma, and it appeared suddenly. As for the path with the preferences files, I can't find it somewhere, is it hidden somehow? I will say that the Snapshot version works without any problems.

Please try the new 6.4 release!
-
Unfortunately, uploading this version did not help, the application opens (a dot appears in the dock, without any window opening) and then immediately closes without any message.
-
Same here. Just downloaded the latest release and it won't open. It starts to open, a couple of Vivaldi processes show up within Activity Monitor, and then...they disappear. Vivaldi simply doesn't open. Disappointing.
-
May be Vivaldi is trying to load libraries that are part of a more recent safari release (>15). Spoiler: Vivaldi shares libraries with the Safari app installation
Latest Vivaldi version 6.4, launched yesterday, is the first version failing to load for this reason. The latest precedent 6.2 version was running smoothly in an old macbook 2011 (running Catalina MacOS 15.3, done with the installation hack).
You may try to launch Vivaldi from a opened terminal window, calling Vivaldi.app [enter]. You will be able to read/scroll the error messages.

Is it any better after macOS 14.1 update?

Nope. Just updated to Sonoma 14.1 and the problem still persists. Vivaldi (Release version) doesn't open.
Interestingly, the Snapshot builds do open. I'm now beginning to think there is a problem with existing profiles (or other Vivaldi files) that, for some reason, won't allow existing release versions of Vivaldi to open under the new macOS.
I have a ton of settings (Tab Stacks, Workspaces, etc.) that can't be imported- via sync or moving files- so I'm hosed until a fix is created. It's been nearly a month so I'm losing faith in the ability of the developers to identify what is causing this issue for so many so a corrective action could be taken.
Starting with a new profile, while it might work for some, and is the lazy way to "fix", won't work for me. Still disappointed at this point but steadily progressing toward a world of using Safari and Firefox on my Mac Studio due to this problem.
