@iAN-CooG, it is, with the mencioned filters and the JShelter extension I have not seen anymore ads, popups or ugly advices on YT or on any other page.

If you are already using an extension even though you said it was not to your liking, then the relevant question is which alternative is better:

1.- uBO extension

2.- Built-in adblocker + JShelter extension

@iAN-CooG Have to agree there, mixing adblock solutions doesn’t make sense, furthermore ublock is actively working on fixes for the youtube situation. Personally I’m not affected yet, sticking with the internal blocker for the time being.

I hope the Vivaldi team can do something about this anti-adblock popup from Youtube because this is really annoying. I get the popup twice today.

I used to use Feedbro to follow 30 X accounts (ex Twitter), but since changed ownership, they are no longer updated.

My concern is that the same could happen to the YT feeds.

If one follows the same logic, the same thing would most likely happen.

@barbudo2005, otherwise uBO+JShelter? uBO is a good ad/trackerblocker, but JShelter, similar to NoScript has nothing to do with this, it's a Fingerprint protection, not an adblocker. Same with my other Extension, SiteBleacher, it also don't block ads, but delete selective all data which the page want to put in my browser or PC, after leaving this page. They are privacy complements to the Vivaldi blocker or uBO. Firefox has a better fingerprint protection as Vivaldi, but even in FF, JShelter is way better.

@macadoum No. But both draw from a shared pool of blocklists. ublock supports a few more features and has different defaults. Most users aren’t able to setup their own sources, judge adblockers by their defaults and think the adblock maintainers need to get active, when in fact few blocklists are maintained by them. For example Vivaldi maintains just a single whitelist for partners.

Well, Vivaldi i have used for many yeras as it's the best, however this new youtube BS banning desktop users who use Adblockers has just got too much, none of the scripts etc work for more than a day, so i tried firefox & all is back to normal, no wanrings nothing, having read lots of post about this, it seems obvious that due to vivaldi being basicaly Chrome, which is part of the whole Google/youtube control, i am reluctanty switching to firefox, as they have me completely blocked using vivaldi

I'm in a similar situation as @glenart1. Using only uBO with Vivaldi ad-blocking disabled still blocks youtube player. Using Firefox allows me to watch youtube without a problem. In an ideal world, Vivaldi wouldn't be chromium based... but that's a big ask I suppose. I enjoy this browser and its features far and beyond anything else I've used, but I feel like I'm being forced to switch to Firefox for the time being.

I'm not affected by those shenanigans I read, but you could test also this brutal list (by @TheQuantumAlpha & @Pinkisjustnumbers) with your system's hosts file, it covers over 4 million domains .

[I use it as the 1st line of defense (that covers also other browsers automatically) and it is much faster too as it works on the OS network level (deeper than any browser's C++/slow JS engine <-extensions), but keep in mind that if you need to unblock a domain you 've got to comment it out manually (not a problem with GNU's sed & grep).]

Same with me, but now after many video they told me: you have your last 3 video, after we will block all for you ( or similar )....

@TARININATHAGHORIDURGADEVI The question is how do they track? If it’s by IP address, only a VPN would help. Should it be cookies or logged in users, the first thing to try is never logging in and always removing cookies after you close youtube.

@barbudo2005 Well this IS now working for me, having previously being banned from any content, i hope i can keep using Vivaldi, other methods have lasted a day only, so time will tell.
