Youtube trialling new ad-blocking

@markbara It's not Vivaldi's fault, Youtube is doing this.

@TbGbe "It's not Vivaldi's fault, Youtube is doing this"
then why on Edge browser everything is working fine? -
@mib3berlin Thanks for the fast reply, but none of your advice have worked. I have enabled only your bromite-4pda.txt list in build-it Vivaldi blocker and disabled the uBlock Origin:
yet the youtube still throws the "Ad blockers violate YouTube's Terms of Service".Also my uBlock Origin is up to date (as of today).
But on the MS Edge youtube works fine on the same account! On MS Edge with enabled uBlock Origin I have on errors and no ads on youtube.

@markbara
Do you use the same extensions on Edge and Vivaldi?
Did you disabled the Vivaldi ad blocker using uBlock?
Please check the other threads, Vivaldi work for me with this list but Youtube block not all users in all Countries.
They have not even start to force this. -
@mib3berlin said in on Vivaldi youtube is unusable:
@markbara
Do you use the same extensions on Edge and Vivaldi?
YES, even the same versions number
Did you disabled the Vivaldi ad blocker using uBlock?
YES, tried all the combinations
Please check the other threads, Vivaldi work for me with this list but Youtube block not all users in all Countries.
I read the other threads on community page that dealt with my problem before starting this thread. None of the advice from those threads fixed my problem.
They have not even start to force this.
this statement is not true
evidently they have already started -
@markbara
OK, then I have no idea.
With force I meant block your account for 24H or something.
I donยดt read there terms and conditions changes lately. -
@markbara Not sure if it would help, but you could try making Vivaldi report itself as Edge.
Go to
vivaldi://settings/network/
and set theReport Browser Brand
dropdown toMicrosoft Edge
and then restart the browser before trying YouTube again. -
@markbara said in on Vivaldi youtube is unusable:
Has anyone encountered this problem before?
Yes, almost everyday this problem gets reported.
And it's always the same, update the lists and follow the instructions.

@nomadic Already tried it. Didn't work
-
@sbernecchia Yes, I am unable to watch youtube videos for the second day now.

I have no problem with YouTube on either Vivaldi or Edge. I'm only using the standard one (i.e. not YT Premium) and the built Ad Blockers and security features with the each browser, no extensions. With certain channels on YT (but not all) I get a white screen with little buffering wheel thingy for not more than 30 seconds before cutting to the start of the video, on others I get the same but with an button to click if I want to Skip Ads (click and straight to the video) and on others it launches the video straight away. With the first two cases I get asked if I want to subscribe to Premium and I just click No Thanks, and way we go. For me it's perfectly watchable, with a minimum of fuss or patience required.
I've seen a number of similar issues reported here, and never had any of them! Seems to me a plain vanilla install, no extensions, works better than adding a load of additional bits and bobs to clutter up the code - whichever browser you use!

This post is deleted! -
@TravellinBob I'm happy for you, but my expectation of browser experience is not to see ads
-
@markbara
Hi, I read a new article about how to you setup uBlock for YT on ghacks.net, no idea if this work for you but maybe take a look. -
@mib3berlin Which is exactly what they instruct to do on the reddit post I already linked
-
@iAN-CooG
Ah, I was not sure as they published it today.Cheers, mib

I had to switch back to uBO, since with the Vivaldi blocker with the default lists, the YT threats "Adblockers are not allowed" "The player will be blocked" and blah blah appeared again
At the moment no problems with uBO (?)I am a poor retiree who does not have enough money to pay even more to connect to the network, especially because YT Premium is not exactly the cheapest of the streaming services. I'm afraid that in the future I will have to send YT to comb the desert, using alternatives as much as possible, the old Odysee would perhaps be the best candidate for content.

It has been a free ride for many years. Google has every right to enforce ads on their own website, because their business model depends on revenue from ads and content creators. Content creators depend largely on ad revenue from Google to make their work worthwhile. I presume that content creators earn nothing from users who use ad-blockers โ is that correct, or do they get paid regardless for the number of views?
For now, a command chain for History Back, Delay 10, History Forward assigned to GestureBack, GestureForward works for me to stop ads displaying. UBlock Origin also works fine, but I refer not to rely on extensions if there is a decent workaround.

@Pesala, I am clear that Google makes money with ads, I said on other occasions that if it were just the occasional banner on the page or on the edge of the video, as others do too, I wouldn't bother, but this is not the case, Independent of the other garbage, like randomly interrupting playlists, tons of clickbaits, usertracking and the sale of this data, on top of that they crush a concert in the middle with an advertorial and things like that, it reaches a point where I can only say that they go to hell.
It's not the ads, it's the abuse of its monopoly that Google claims, to block all this crap as pure personal defense.
It is enough to see the statistics of ads and trackers by watching a single video, to realize that there is more of this than on any other page. In the past, in a video, with the Vivaldi blocker, I counted up to 20 trackers and 30 attempts for advertisements. -
Now also with uBO (Dimash Story of one sky) This one also rejected in the front ends (Piped and others), i still can view the video in Andisearch and copy the link from there, but in YT i see this
