Latest update even more broken
-
I installed the latest 64bit version. For now it seems to be working I will post if I get the same problem. Thank you for your help/suggestions.
EDIT:
I do not want to one man spam here so an update. Youtube videos are still playing (most likely because 64bit vivaldi is still at version 1.3.551.38) but after a bit of use the blank image problem is back. I hope this edit gets noticed. If anyone has any suggestions feel free to share them. I hope this bug gets addressed, it's really frustrating. -
I also have all the problems described in first post. I'll try reinstalling
EDIT: I had no luck with reinstalling, everything is the same

Did you ever refresh your profile?
-
Yup. That "resetting browser" I mentioned was actually a wrong way to word "resetting/refreshing profile".
Even without copying the bookmarks and the rest from the old folder I still had the same problems.

Same here

One of our testers turned himself (and his PC) inside out yesterday trying to find a configuration or settings in system or browser that could replicate this bug, and was unable. Videos continued to play without problems, under all conditions.
This is the kind of thing that makes developers' hair stand on end. In fact, if my count is anywhere near accurate, there are probably eighty people with backstage access who can bring up, test, discuss such things with the developers, and none report video problems.
-
If there are any logs I can share please let me know. Also I could try providing videos of the problem occurring although I doubt they'll be of much help.

I'm wondering… if you did a stand-alone install of Vivaldi and it exhibited the same problems, it should be possible to export a zip or rollup file of that entire standalone installation to Vivaldi (assuming they're willing and able to accept it). In that case, they could replicate your Vivaldi installation, exclusive of any extensions or passwords. That would tend either to confirm a problem in the Vivaldi installation itself or else imply the problem was related to your unique system (drivers, codecs, hardware, etc) or Vivaldi extensions. It's just a thought...

Regarding the blank page bug I found a log file with some errors in the vivaldi installation folder. I'm not sure if they were produced during installation or execution but here they are

If what blackbird said could help I could zip the entire installation folder and upload it if needed. -
This isn't meant as a bump but as an update to help developers locate the issue.
I have noticed that the blank page problem usually happens when opening links in a new tab. For example I see a linked image in twitch chat. If I click it, a blank page opens (even though the page has actually loaded -in case of videos I can even hear the video play in the background, but all I see is a blank page-), however if I copy the url and paste it in a new tab it works.
Hope this was helpful.

Sorry, but I've lost track of which version you are using.
That "blank page" problem sounds like the issue that was fixed with Snapshot 1.3.582.3
I see that you had Video problems with this snapshot - was that the "known" missing WideVine plugin problem?
But it seems you might have gone back to Stable Vivaldi because of this - and so hit the blank page problem again.Or have I totally misunderstood you?
Regarding video, did you see this thread
https://vivaldi.net/en-US/forum/vivaldi-browser/14489-vivaldi-unable-to-read-a-video -
While trying to solve the problem I switched to the 64bit stream, whose latest version is 1.3.551.38.
However I was still getting the blank page at version 1.3.582.3 on the 32bit stream. So I'm not sure if it was fixed (maybe I needed a fresh installation -even though I refreshed my profile-). That blank image problem I posted on the first post was from the mentioned version. Now as far as the video goes you're probably right. I didn't notice the missing plugin back then so if I ever went back to that version I should be able to download it and fix the video problem.

Perhaps I missed it, but in skimming back over this thread, I didn't notice any reference to a filed bug report about this. If not, that would perhaps be a good thing to do, and link to this thread in it. A filed bug report elevates a problem to the developers' problem list, and the link to this thread would give them added detail beyond the report itself. File at: https://vivaldi.com/bugreport

Will do so. Thanks for reminding me

There is a 64bit version of 1.3.582.3 (I'm using it).
Most likely you downloaded the Stable instead of the Snapshot
https://vivaldi.net/en-US/teamblog/148-snapshot-1-3-582-3-web-panel-improvements-and-a-new-snapshot-logoThe reason I asked that on twitch.tv I can open both avatar and emote images in a new tab with no problem. Although I do not have an account to actually check the general chat. Also I can play Youtube videos with no problem (guess I've been lucky not to need the Widevine plug-in).
If you can provide direct links to the image / video where you have the problem it would help the devs.

http://antondan.s-ul.eu/jFxR1G4Z.mp4 If you want specific image links I could do it but as you can see it's a fact for any image

From my original post:
Just google something and open the first image you see on a new tab
On my bug report I mentioned that it happens whenever you try to open an image in a new tab (twitch was just an example).
On the video I posted above I just open a website like 9gag, open the first post I see in a new tab and it still displays a blank page.
I am not sure what you mean by unclear but let me google something and post the link of an image
This is the link I'm using
This is how to replicate the bug -

This is how to replicate the bugUsing your link and opening images in a background tab (using middle click) works for me with both
1.3.551.38 (Stable channel) (32-bit)
1.4.589.2 (Developer Build) (64-bit) [just updated today]Note: 9gag works for me as well (again checked both versions).
Edit: From your video of it happening I can see that you have some extensions installed.
I also have the Adguard extension, but not the others.I can only suggest you try the latest snapshot with a new profile (not upgrading) so guarantee no extensions are causing this.
-
Refreshing my profile in the latest snapshot has been a very strange experience. Without importing anything from my old profile, I have yet to experience a blank image problem. However when opening something like 9gag posts in a new tab, I still most of the time get blank pages.
I can't really draw any conclusions like that so I'll have to use the browser a bit more. See if the problem returns.
