Solved Sign in with Google dialog keeps popping up
-
I'm getting this issue on v6. I've logged in through the popup to all three google accounts I have setup in Vivaldi mail but still the prompts appear. Are there logs anywhere to help me diagnose?
-
I am also getting it with 6.1 and 6.2. No idea how to get rid of it, it is most annoying.
Just to specify, I use mail and calendar. Both work. I get this pop-up. I can either enter the credentials or close it without entering the credentials, the results is the same. Mail and Calendar work in both cases, but I get the pop-up in fifteen minutes or so again. I just keep it minimized, but then I always have at least two Vivaldi windows open, one of them being this useless dialog:-(.
-
The same problem with the pop ups.
I'm not able to sign back into any accounts, even if I delete the accounts from Vivaldi and add it back again.
A total cluster F. -
Actually, I logged once and then in two hours since no-pop up. So for me this can might have been fixed, possibly:
[Mail][Calendar] Vivaldi accounts are using OAuth but re-prompted for passwords (VB-96224)
@TD4 I am not sure but in this thread, there seem to be two issues mixed:
- Pops-up appearing all the time even though one is logged on and everything works, the popup being just a nuisance
- Not bein able to log on, which seems to be what you have.
-
@felagund Thank you for the reply.
All my accounts were setup, but today, it's like all the passwords don't work for some reason.Trying the use Outh/Auth or whatever it's called, doesn't work at all.
I'll try again in 24 hours. -
I just updated to 6.2.3105.43 (Stable channel) (64-bit) and it has started asking for the OAuth every time I start Vivaldi and it has deleted several account that I use less often.... annoying.
-
Vivaldi has updated on my PC in the last few hours, and like others, I now get this pop-up asking to sign in to Google. This is a right f***ing pain in the arse every time Vivaldi updates to have to do this. I'm exasperated to the extent that I'm seriously considering giving up on Vivaldi and going elsewhere. JUST F-ING SORT IT OUT WILL YOU!!!!!
-
@PaulBMiller55 I don't have that issue with Gmails account anymore. But Outlook accounts are popping up every time I start the browser.
Entering the password, just fixes the issue until I close the browser.Pull your fingers out Vivaldi.

Calm down - it's Google deciding a new version of Vivaldi requires a new login, not Vivaldi doing it...

Hello, the same here after the 6.2.3105.43 (Stable channel) (64 bits) standalone update, but after reading this topic, i don't know if there a specific way for solve this problem. for me it was ok. you can be inspired by some post of user with links to the help of the browser and other little things.
so, after deleting all google cookies and reboot the browser, enter your password into the google popup and process for connect vivaldi to google, try to clic to the update accompt button in your vivaldi browser settings Gmail menu with the OAuth box checked, at the server tab... the check become green ... oh my God, yeah !!
after that, apparently you are connected to the google service and you can eventually disconnet of them from the web page, in all cases the pop up disappears.^^
-
@Martial To be clear, Vivaldi never gets connected to Google. What happens is, you sign in to some Google service to which you already subscribe, and Google stops blocking Vivaldi 6.2 on your machine for this.
-
Same problem since my latest updates a couple of days ago. The Oath window pops up every 10 minutes, I log in and then it happens again.
I love Vivaldi but often get extremely frustrated with these random but very annoying issues. I have also noticed a new delay when I switch tabs with the new update.
Guys, why does every update have to be so painful? -
6 days and Google still hasn't figured out about Vivaldi? Colour me skeptical.
-
@WolvenSpectre Google does not try to figure this out. They leave it to the user to re-authorize in every individual instance.
At the moment, we are discussing this backstage. No Vivaldi tester or dev has been able to reproduce this problem, yet it clearly exists.
Tell me: which all of Google's services do you use? Mail? Calendar? Docs? Drive? Pictures? This may have some bearing on it.
-
@WolvenSpectre Is your google account "normal one" or controlled by an organization?
In your google profile: https://myaccount.google.com/security?hl=en
Is Vivaldi listed there? Which access does it have to your Google profile?
-
@arnar Sorry for late reply, I have been sick and I let my email slide (not to mention the consistant popups
No it is normal, no org here.
Here is the Security page:
It has been like that non-stop for days. I have gotten so tired that I have taken to using Waterfox to watch YouTube sometimes.
I just finished installing the update and I hope it works. I had to delete all but my most necessary email accounts because it was constantly popping up accounts to verify.
UPDATE:
The Mail popups are still here after an install of the update.Oh and I tried uninstalling all email accounts and installing the 2 required ones again.
UPDATE 2:
I am kicking myself over here.
I don't know how many times I told this to people on Reddit... Clean profile and test the problem.
I had set up the problem on a clean profile and once the full downloads downloaded no repeated installs. My first clue was when some of the email addresses didn't carry through, but I thought that was because they weren't OAuth. I will now spend the morning resetting up my email and if it all still works I will move my sync over.At least after I surgically remove my hand from my forehead....
-
I am also experiencing the relentless Google sign-in popups...switched to Vivaldi for the customizability and privacy and still can't escape the Google nonsense xD
It has gotten so bad that the Google popups are now freezing my entire Vivaldi window. Using Safari right now to search for the problem and to type this.Additonal Note: I have read through this entire thread and I understand it is because I have Google Calendars connected to the Vivaldi calendar client. I prefer the Vivaldi calendar much more over the google web calendar anyhow but how would I get my calendars to sync (without the popups happening each time) as I have already logged in to sync the calendars already?
-
Update 3 (sigh)
I had 2 email accounts and it went for hours after fully downloading everything without a popup. I then spent most of this morning and part of this afternoon installing my 10 email accounts and towards the end I started getting the email popups again, mostly from a few accounts, and less often, but I am still getting the Google Authentication popups on a new profile, new account. Since I was getting the popups again, syncing my profile over. I took this opportunity to do a bunch of Speed Dial maintenance. At least I am getting less popups now but c....rying out loud this is ANNOYING!!!
Also I should point out one of my mail accounts that I have signed in with OAuth is a Yahoo Mail account and I am also getting popups from Yahoo repeatedly. I have edited my KeePass Autotype for it because it makes me log in every time.
Update 4
Yahoo got so sick of me authenticating my 2FA with a TOTP Number that with the last pop-up they mailed me a code to make sure I had access.Update 5, The Pop-ups Strike Back!
Yahoo has gotten back to requiring 2FA instead of emailing me a code at an external address. Maybe the auth servers were down for maintenance?!? -
UPDATE 6
Ok, this is weird. From my pre-update version of Vivaldi I had about 5 or 6 Progressive Web Apps installed on my system.
Then there was the update and the problems with the pop-ups.
Then last night I was listening to some YouTube ASMR and while the video played in my new profile, it launched my old app, started opening OAuth popups from what I gather was my old profile, and then it crashed Vivaldi to desktop. I tried some other apps, and the same behavior. So I deleted the PWAs and recreated them under the new profile after the launch and me accepting all the popups. Now I can go for hours without a Google Popup but my Yahoo account keeps making me log in and it sometimes uses a mail in code, but it mostly uses a 6 digit TOTP Authenticator code.
In short with the odd exception I only get popups at launch, excluding Yahoo OAth which I get constantly. Could this issue be partially with the PWAs???
-
@WolvenSpectre
Hi, I use Gmail with app password and Yahoo with OAuth but get no popups, this is a really strange issue.
Good idea about the PWA´s, some may use it but forget to mention it.Cheers, mib
