Alt+Click does NOT close all other TABs; it does nothing
-
Never used it, but found it today while hovering the mouse over the "X" in a TAB. The little context help stated something like: Close Tab, Alt+Click clos all other Tabs.
I tried it ... but nothing happens. I tried an other installation. Same result.
Debian/sid(uction) , Vivaldi 6.1.3035.111 (Stable channel) stable (64-Bit)
Doesn't work on current Vivaldi-Snapshot either.

@michaa7
Hi, does not work for me on Opensuse, KDE.
I guess it depends on the DE, otherAlt
shortcuts cant work with KDE, too.Cheers, mib
-
yes, yes, yes
(A simple yes is to short for the forum software)
-
Ok, it is Debian with fluxbox on one installation and with lxqt on the other. Alt+click does close the Tabs in neither DE.
-
@michaa7
Hm, it´s a bit strange, on stable the shortcut is not set, on the snapshot it is Ctrl+Alt+C?Set it to what you like in: vivaldi://settings/keyboard/ > Tab
-
Ok, there was nothing set (why?) which explains it not working.
But how can I set "mouseclick"?
It worked with "Alt + Enter", which I obviously do NOT want to be the final setting. But I didn't see any mouseclick set in whichever box. So ... is it even possible?
And, BTW, it seems to me a bug when the context help shows something which is not set/working by default and could be set to whatever different keys.

We have the same DE though:

@mib2berlin Thanks for clarifying
-
@mib2berlin
on what machine does it not work for you, on HP or the Mini?ignore it, something else should be responsible for it. -
@npro
Yes but to be honest, I don´t care, I use the context menu for it. -
@mib2berlin Just a thought, maybe you use
Alt
as the modifier key underWindow Actions?
Try changing it toMeta
, then try again closing the tabs with Alt?$ kcmshell5 kcm_kwinoptions
-
@npro
Thank you for helping but I don´t change anything in my system defaults. -
@mib2berlin So that must be it then. Ok.
-
So it's a bug?
-
@michaa7 No, this means you have to go to your fluxbox config file and comment out (or use another shortcut for, like
Meta
as I said) theAlt+Mouse
window-drag functionality, thenAlt
will be available for you to close all other tabs in Vivaldi. -
Thanks!
You are right. After commenting out:
"# alt + left/right click to move/resize a window
#OnWindow Mod1 Mouse1 :MacroCmd {Raise} {Focus} {StartMoving}
#OnWindow Mod1 Mouse3 :MacroCmd {Raise} {Focus} {StartResizing NearestCorner}"and restarting fluxbox, I now can "close-all-other-Tabs" using Alt+Mouse.
I not quite sure I will leave it now, or whether I prefere using the context menue? I'll see.
And I do not understand why this is configured in such a way in fluxbox as the same functionality is availabe without involving the "ALT" key ...Anyway, solved now ... and good to know there is someone else using vivaldi on fluxbox.

I don't use
fluxbox
butKWin
, KDE's window manager, I just happen to know a few things more. The same would apply to
openbox
as well for example.And I do not understand why this is configured in such a way in fluxbox as the same functionality is availabe without involving the "ALT" key ...
It's not the same, with
Alt+Mouse
you can drag the window from anywhere, not just from the border.I not quite sure I will leave it now, or whether I prefere using the context menue? I'll see.
I'd say it's better to replace
Alt
withMeta/Super
(in this occasion) as many apps are using plainAlt
(+click) for many things as well, not just Vivaldi. -

Meta/Super
key ? The "windows" key? "AltGr" key? something else?
And do you know what it is in fluxbox key config speech? "Mod4"?Thanks!
