Installed Browser On Android, Lost All Bookmarks on Desktop
-
As above... I used "sync" to connect the browser on my new phone trying to get my bookmarks to show on it (years and years of bookmarks) to make browsing easier... it didn't. and Now all my bookmarks are gone on my desktop? Is there a "way back machine" to get them back?? Any help will be much appreciated.

Standard backup tools can restore such data, assuming that the user made backups in the first place.

@marius_zz Having no regular backup is really stupid, Sync is no backup.

synchronization its not mirroring !!

Just tested with a fresh install on Android.
Sync works for me with 6.1 Stable and 6.2 Snapshot on Android, Linux and Windows.
No loss of bookmarks. -

Hi, I don´t know what happen on your systems but sync is additive.
It is much harder to delete something than to add.
If you delete a bookmark on Android it is moved to the trash can on desktop.
You have to remove it from the trash can to really delete it.
It´s may sounds simple but did you check the trash can?Cheers, mib

Agreed, but saying that Vivaldi (Chromium) needs a proper backup tool. In Opera, pre ver. 13, we had Stu's Opera Settings Import and Export Tool
Stu’s Opera Settings Import & Export tool, that allows you to export all your Opera settings, profiles, and browsing sessions to an archive and import it into Opera on the same or another computer.
from: https://www.howtogeek.com/125032/how-to-backup-and-transfer-opera-settings-profiles-and-browsing-sessions/
(thedownload link is dead). This was a tool that was easy for users to use and customize to their needs. With V this is still a manual process and a user can still miss files or folders they should have backed up.
Let us find Stu !!!
