Catch up – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 3054.3

@mib2berlin Opened the window through the menu since I rarely open a second non private window and don't know the shortcut. I closed it using the normal window close button and choosing the ok on the confirmation dialogue.
-
@Durtro
The only difference: I always disable this Windows like "Are you sure" confirmation pop up.
But I fear this doesnt make any difference. -
@mib2berlin nevertheless I saw the video and it was the way that I closed the window but the opening was different since I didn't go directly from the workspace menu, I opened the window going through the vivaldi menu and then selected the workspace in that new window.
BTW, in one case and after opening vivaldi again, I close the second window and the other one only disappeared after a few seconds without any interaction. As such, it does resemble a crash. After that the session was saved with just that one window and everything worked fine after.

@Durtro
AH fine but still strange.
You can check if Vivaldi create a crash log file, it does not always and this make it harder to find bugs.https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/troubleshoot/reporting-crashes-on-windows/

@Ruarí and V Team - thank you for your hard and continued work on this amazing browser, it just gets better and better!
Also, nice to see you and Maria on Mastodon.
Not sure if this is a bug, or if it's on the theme developers, but I noticed with the new V menu button, when applying different color themes (both some Vivaldi ones like 'Private' and some 3rd party themes) that a mouse hover over other Vivaldi buttons (back/forward etc.) look different than a mouse hover over the new V button.
Thank you again and you all have a great weekend!

i've not spent hours searching, only did one quick forum search just now, which drew a blank. we still don't have some way to tiled-tabs scroll-lock, do we?

Seems like there is something broken regarding hardware acceleration with this build (possibly since some of the previous builds, I don't know). I haven't performed any extensive testing, but this video for example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4xKvHANqjk - doesn't seem to trigger the hardware decoding on my RTX 3070 and falls back on the CPU, which causes unnatural load. Things seem fine with Vivaldi Stable.
P.S. I just found that disabling and reenabling hardware acceleration in the settings seems to fix the issue, but I'll keep an eye for it still.

IDK what the team did to the browser recently but I am here to praise them because it's actually much faster now. -- a user with lots of tabs

We've got a new Snapshot for Desktop, with a bunch of fixes. Make sure to check them and let us know how it works!

@Pathduck said in Catch up – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 3054.3:
Do they think we don't know how menus work? Do Vivaldi users really need an arrow to let them know there's an actual menu there?
Yes, they do. The button was made larger and we gave it an drop-down arrow to help new users locate the menu button. The problem with the old design was that it looked too much like the standard app-icon-to-the-left-in-the-window-title-bar-icon.
