Solved Closing the browser to log out of webmail

The latest update made you close the browser to log out completely in order to switch to another webmail account.

Does anyone know if this is being worked on?

How do I log out of webmail if I have more than one webmail account without clearing cookies?

I have two accounts and I want to check one and then check the other but webmail will not log me out after I click on logout.

When I click on Login it takes me back to the account I'm trying to log out of.

Deleting cookies every time I want to check my webmail is going to get old real fast.

Even though you logout it is possible to re-login without re-authenticating. Issue is reproducible and should be raised as a security bug.

BTW Are you clearing cached data on closing browser because I am not and find I can still log back into webmail without re-authenticating.

Yes, after logging out re-authenticating is not required as long as the browser stays open, once the browser is closed then re-authenticating is required after it's reopened.

That's the issue, I do not want to close the browser to log in to my other webmail account.

I believe this is just a step on the way to have all of Vivaldi's online services under one Single-Sign-On login. Basically, as long as you're signed in to vivalid.net all the services like Forum, Blogs, Social, Themes and Webmail should be accessible without having to sign in again, and they're working towards this goal.

So this is definitely intentional and not a "bug".

One could argue that the Logout process in the Webmail client (Roundcube) is misleading. Ideally, it should give the user a warning that signing out of the webmail client will also sign the user out of all Vivaldi services - and then actually do that.

Maybe an improvement could be to give the user a Signout button on the page you're directed to after logging out of Webmail, allowing a complete signout of all Vivaldi services (hence allowing logging in again with another account).

This is also nothing special - this is how it's done by other large service providers. If you "sign out" of Gmail or YouTube, you sign out of Google. If you sign out of your Hotmail/Outlook/Office account, you sign out of your Microsoft account.

Now Google for instance has some features that allow a user to stay signed in with several different accounts at the same time. But I'm not so sure Vivaldi's services allow for this (yet?) After all, RoundCube is a pretty basic mail client so not sure it supports something like that.

Other than that, I think if anything it will be harder to use more than one account with Vivaldi Webmail, unless the user also decides to sign out of all Vivaldi services.

The only other workaround is using another browser profile for another account.

@troypulk, a temporary workaround to the issue that does not require closing of browser follows:

• Logout of webmail
• go to Vivaldi Forum
• select Login
• select Logout
• return to webmail

Another option is to access webmail in Private Window, after Logout to close and reopen it.

If that is the case then it has been poorly documented / conveyed to the user, i.e. user is oblivious to risk that logout has not completed

Same problem here. I open the webmail page and can login in my emails, i have logged out. I dont have marked the checkbox "remember me" an can login with one click, without my password. Yes, after i delete my cookies, i logged in again. I logout and can login again without my password. I think this is not correct. Please fix this and have a nice day. Thank you.

Dont work for me. I need to clear the cookies or use a private window to become a field for my password.

To prevent any misunderstandings:
Is it planned that I will only be able to log out through indirect means, and not directly on the page where I log in?

In that case, I have to ask: Is it also planned that I can log in without a password even though I did not select the "stay logged in" checkbox? (A problem that I have since I can no longer log out.)

The latter issue is, in my opinion, a big problem and could even be illegal in the EU since a cookie is being stored against the user's wishes.

Could be the Vivaldi Services Single-Sign-On
I guess you have to logout at https://login.vivaldi.net/profile/logout before you can use Vivaldi Webmail with a different account.
I can not test as i have only one webmail account and do not know more about a new authentication for Vivaldi Webmail.

I don't have the OP's problem with Vivaldi Webmail, because I only have one account. But I two have two separate landline accounts with the same phone company in two states 1000km apart under two very different forms of my name, dissimilar credentials, etc.

It drives me nuts that in order to pay both bills, I have to delete cookies after one account in order to log in to the other. "Logging out" does not clear the cookie for the first account, so if I log out and go back to the login screen, it automatically logs me back in to the account I just tried to leave. I know how frustrating that can be, and it would be lovely if Vivaldi didn't do it.

Hello dear Vivaldi users (although this is more directed towards Vivaldi Team),

With the latest changes to the webmail, I am now facing an issue when using multiple accounts.

I have two accounts that I use for emails: one with my internet pseudonym (which I'm using to post this), and one with my real name. I use both email addresses extensively, using one or the other depending on who or what I give it to.

Before the latest updates to the webmail, I used to log in with one account, manage my emails for it, log off, and log back in with my other account to manage my emails for this one. But now, when I log off, I land on the login screen which only has one button "Log into Vivaldi" (ot whatever the english text for this button is), and when I click it I instantly get logged back to my previous account. I don't see any option anywhere to log in with a different account...

Am I missing something? Or have you just forgotten about the multiple accounts users?

For now, easiest solution is to simply create a new profile for logging in to one account. Advantage: You can then stay signed into both accounts at the same time

I guess a todo-list thing would be to add some global logout feature as some users might think logging out (and getting the login page) means they're also logged out of all services

@thomasp, good to read and see issue is resolved but now when signing out of other Vivladi services an OAuth Processing Error Message is shown:

NB this new issue is more of an annoyance that anything as session is terminated / logged out correctly AFAICS
