Shift+A won't type a capital "A"
-
I was working on Google Docs and typing some text in a spreadsheet, and when I needed to type a capital a, nothing happened. I tried on the address bar, but nothing. I've tried on another website, still not working.
I first thought it would be related to my keyboard, but I typed it in another browser and software and it worked.(note: in order to get the "A" in my post title, I had to copy/paste it from another program actually)
So I went to the settings and looked at the keyboard shortcut, to see if one would be set to "shift+a", but I didn't find anything.
The only workaround for now is to type the Caps Lock key, type the "a" and type Caps Lock key again. Pretty annoying, right?Does anybody get the same thing by any chance?
I'm on MacOS Monterey and Vivaldi 6.0.2979.15 (Stable channel) (x86_64) -
I also use MacOS Monterey. A capital "A" works for me.

Thanks, @Streptococcus !
That is so strange! What could it be then? any idea? -
@WhiteNoize Both left and right shift keys fail to function? And only with "a"...?
-
@OakdaleFTL No, both shift keys are just fine I CN WRITE IN CPITL with no issue, except for the "a", as you can see

Does pressing
Caps Lock
change the situation?Does the issue persist when using the accessibility keyboard panel, read more here Use the Accessibility Keyboard on Mac - Apple Support (English) and does it correctly reflect corresponding keyboard input?

"Does pressing Caps Lock change the situation?"
Yes, and that's what I used so far, as a workaround. -
"...Does the issue persist when using the accessibility keyboard panel..."
No, as I was saying earlier "shift+a" works everywhere else; I only have this issue on Vivaldi. -
"...does it correctly reflect corresponding keyboard input?..."
Yes it does:
-
-
Does the issue persist under a new Vivaldi profile?
-
Yes, it does. I've tried with both a guest window and a new profile.

Ok, I think I found the culprit! -> Keyboard Maestro.
For some reason, I have a macro, created for Vivaldi, that is supposed to be triggered through a hotkey (in this case shift+a), but under a very specific condition, and I don't understand why it would prevent me from actually type a "A" and have the key "silent" instead...
Anyway, I'll get in touch with their support, and we can mark this as solved! Sorry for the bother guys, and thanks for the help on this! -
@WhiteNoize No reply from KM support?
-
@OakdaleFTL Yes, and they helped me tweak my macro so it doesn't conflict with anything while it's triggering.
Now both my macro and "shift+A" are working
