New window opens small size instead of Fullscreen
-
Up until Vivaldi version 5.1 whenever I opened a new window be it normal or private it opened normal full size(maximized), but after updating I noticed that new window I open is now small(not-maximized). seems ill have to revert back to using version 5.1 when window opened normally and not semi-minimized.
This screenshot shows how a new window opens not maximized. it started from Vivaldi 5.2 and still continues to this day. such a disappointment. Also just tired to delete some items and found it was laggy as hell

@princejax How do you open a new window? Here, it opens maximised if the source window was maximised.
-
i have window maximized and when i go to private window it opens semi minimized like in screen shot. then i maximize the private window and try to open normal window and that opens semi minimized

️Downgradeing
to older version is not recommended, such will break your browser profile data and cause weird issues.
-
just now i got a popup saying sync disabled cos some error occurred. uninstalling and installing older version seems a very viable and stable option at this point
-
The last time Vivaldi browser was stable for me was version 5.1, all the version after that have been giving me all kinds of issues
-
Sync issues, new windows opening semi-minimized, bookmarks not being stored, thumbnails of speed dials not showing, these r some of the issues i've faced after vivaldi 5.1

No you don't - your screenshot clearly shows the Vivaldi window is in the "windowed/restored" state.
This is how the icon looks when a window is maximised:
The window looks like it's maximised because it fills the whole display, but it is not. Maximise the window and all subsequent windows will open maximised. It inherits the state from the first window opened.

Maximise the window and all subsequent windows will open maximised.
On Win11 (last I knew) there's a hazard in this because if your display goes to sleep then when you reactivate it, all of your maximized apps have been reduced to a "restored" size which is roughly a quarter of a screen. I can't figure out WHY MS would inflict this absurdity on people, but it has led me to keep Vivaldi at a maximised-looking non-max state, because Win11 doesn't shrink those. Stupid. That said, whenever I open a new Vivaldi window, it opens at the size of the previous window - full-looking, but not full.
-
@Pathduck i took opened private window and then a new window and took that screenshot on purpose to show that whether it is private or normal window it always opens half minimized.
Just admit it and say you guys don't know what is causing the new window to open semi minimized and cant fix it ill just keep using Vivaldi 5.1 which didn't give me any kind of issues.

Hi, we don´t know why it is not working on your system.
May you can check it with a guest profile, it exclude all settings, extensions and a broken profile.https://help.vivaldi.com/article/guest-view/
As other user mention, if you downgrade Vivaldi your profile is broken and you get errors nobody else can reproduce.
Instead of a new profile you can install the latest Vivaldi version as standalone install and test this.

Cheers, mib
