aha! We're almost there now, just need that swipe for back/forward.
Thanks a ton!!

just remembered Vivaldi exists again and I'm shocked that swipe gestures for touchpads are STILL not a thing! surely 2023 is the year of the swipe?
-
As Chromium is offering this feature out of the box I wonder how hard it is to offer it for Vivaldi as well.
All the other major browsers are offering it and I am really missing it. One additional use case: one hand usage. -

Please, implement this, I want to believe in Vivaldi...
-
I'm a new user (I'm fed up with all the junk Microsoft keeps adding to Edge) and this is definitely the biggest thing that I am missing. I got used to being able to do the two-finger swipe for back and forward. Please add it!

This request is now in the pipeline. We would like to improve touchpad gestures support in Vivaldi. Once the work starts, we will mark it as "In progress".
-
@pafflick This is great, thank you for considering this.
-
How is this still not implemented? I'm new to using vivaldi and already want to switch back.

Vivaldi, please, we need this feature

hello team,
I'd welcome the function to navigate back in forth in history with two-finger-scrolling/swiping, left or right, on the touchpad very much !
Thanks for considering to implement it.
bye

@Trichi Vote for the first post if you haven't already done so. (Voting again will remove your vote).

There's a solution for it: Swipe Back extension
which allows two-finger swipe (on touchpad) for history navigation.

I have "Swipe Back" extension installed, but natively it is always better.

Lack of proper touchpad support is what prevents me from switching to Vivaldi full-time at work.
I use a laptop, don't need a mouse because... Well, touchpad gestures are a thing basically EVERYWHERE except for Vivaldi.
Upvoted and really hoping this finally gets done.

A note: The Swipe Back extension breaks some page, because it adds two
<img>
tags (which has semantics in HTML. I don't know why it dont use<div>
s with background image) to the page. For example, it make Telegra[dot]ph think there are some pictures awaiting uploading, and thus you cannot publish your article. -
There are many complains about this feature since 2018 and on vivaldi.net, help.vivaldi, reddit and on other pages. This is really ashaming for an important feature is not developed for such a long time. I think I will switch to another browser now.
-
Question: What would be the criteria for developing and implementing this. If choosing not to do so, could you please make a statement on that? Thanks for making such a great browser.
