Vivaldi is the only browser that leaks my ip
-
@porotikos , I'm from Spain, using ProtonVPN, WebRTC enabled.
No IP leaks here (???)
Try the leak test with yor VPN enabled in a Guest profile, this put Vivaldi in the default settings, without extensions.

ibelieve you. as i said, i used a guest profile, and i am still leaking.
So if many of you dont leak, and i leak but i dont use extensions, and i dont leak in other browsers, what is wrong here? any ideas?
here are my settings
-
@porotikos , the differences I see to my settings are these, I don't use Google "privacy" settings or DNS, only the Web Store API.
-
@porotikos
I meant the NordVPN extension but you mentioned you don´t use any extension, okay.
I was not correct about my security settings, I have Hangouts, DNS to Help and Form Autofil disabled but should not matter.
I use Vivaldi 5.7.2921.60 and the 5.8 snapshot.
No idea what happen.Cheers, mib

thank you guys.
i disabled Hangouts, DNS to Help and Form Autofil, to no avail. i am still leaking. i dont really knowwhat to do.
This is crazy. since you are not leaking and i am, i dont know what the problem might be...
Something must be broken in my vivaldi? -
@porotikos , hijacked? which search engine do you use? It's a perhaps a silly question, but at the moment I can't think of any other possible leak.
Do a scan with AdwCleaner or Panda Cloud Cleaner by chance. -
@Catweazle but how can i be hijacked in just this browser? seems strange. i will do a scan as you suggest. i have a great antivirus as well though. bitdefender...
-
@porotikos A malicious extension can cause hijacking.
I can not test NordVPN extension, there is no demo mode, and i am not willing to pay for a test.
List of installed extension can be found as text: Open
vivaldi://system
, at rowextensions
hit Maximize button in row, you will get a list which you can copy and paste here. -
@DoctorG said in Vivaldi is the only browser that leaks my ip:
vivaldi://system
This is it. but mind you i checked this without any extensions already...
-
@porotikos Seems you have two extensions installed: Session Buddy and uBlock Origin.
All ither are internal Vivaldi modules. -
and session buddy, got installed an hour ago. i didnt even have that...
-
@porotikos
Hi again, I would test this with a standalone install of Vivaldi.
It often taks longer to erode why a used profile/install does not work correctly than to start from scratch.
There are many ways to get your data and settings back.https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/install-update/standalone-version-of-vivaldi/
Cheers, mib
EDIT: Do you use a third party security software? -
@mib2berlin , as he said, BitDefender. But I don't think this as cause, BitDefender is a good and reliable AV.
Session Buddy may have a conflict with the Vivaldis own tab management (???) -
@mib2berlin will do that thank you.
as for session buddy, problem existed before i installed it. i installed it just today

@porotikos , quite a mystery, with a VPN working, and NordVPN is one of the best, it should normally be impossible for your real IP to leak, since the page you visit can only see the IP used by the VPN, at least if it doesn't make references to some logs from previous visits without VPN. The only thing you can try is deleting Cookies, cache and serviceworkers

i deleted cookies cache and serviceworkers to no avail. i am at a loss for words. too angry. i will try to reinstall vivaldi but just need to make a back up first.
If a fresh install doesnt createa leak then its some sort of settings that mess things up. if a fresh install still leaks, i dunno what to do. thank you -
@porotikos, I found an article about this issue, maybe it can help to resolve this mystery. Anyway, change your DNS setting (I use 9.9.9.9) and use DNScrypt, maybe this fix your problem.
