POP 3 server option "Delete mail from server - when deleting locally" does not work anymore
-
Hi all,
I am accessing my mail via POP3 and use the server option "Delete mail from server - when deleting locally", i.e., mails should stay on the server until I delete them (empty trash).
This option does not work anymore since a few weeks - the mails still stay on the server even when I delete them locally and empty trash. The option "...when received from server" works, i.e., deleting mails from the server seems to work in general.
I need the option "...when deleting locally" because I fetch my mails on multiple computers and do not want to delete unwanted mails there again (no, I do not want to use IMAP). This also has been nicely working until a few weeks, so I assume, a recent update changed something. My version is: 5.7.2921.60 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
Has anyone similar issues or still has the option correctly working?
Thanks!

@MAAAR Hi.
I use the Linux version of Vivaldi and do not see such a setting in Vivaldi's Mail settings.
Would this possibly be AOL or Yahoo? I just added a test e-mail account using AOL's POP3 settings. I didn't see a similar setting to what you are describing, through the web site, but I had the same result. E-mail was downloaded via POP3, but remained in the AOL Inbox after I logged back in via the web site, the e-mail was still marked as new. Deleting it from within Vivaldi Mail, did not delete it from the AOL side.

@edwardp Thanks for checking. In the windows version, the setting is in the server setting tab:
I think the default setting is the first one (keep it for 7 days) - so maybe that is the reason why the mail remained in your test.
Thanks for your help!

PS: The old Opera 12 M2 mail client had also a similar setting ("Keep mails on server - until I permanently delete them").

@MAAAR I learn something new every day. Found the setting, thank you.
Up to now, all of the accounts I added are IMAP, which is why I didn't see the setting.
I set it to the same setting as described. The 7-day option is the default. When I added the account, it only created Inbox and Sent folders. The deleted messages are then placed in All Messages/Trash.
Just sent another test e-mail, with the same result, deleted from Vivaldi Mail, All Messages/Trash was then emptied and the e-mail was still in the AOL Inbox (again, as new) on the web site.
Since I have confirmed this, please submit a bug report. Bug report guidelines are here. You can also reference this Forum thread in the remarks.
