Vivaldi takes the Window Panel to another level.
-
@ProductUser You can set your own shortcut for Duplicate Selected Tabs in Settings, Keyboard, Tab.
Many commands do not have a shortcut by default because then new users would be getting random results when they use the shortcuts.
-
Regression: The sidebar (the panel on the left that holds the bookmarks aso) doesnt remember its size anymore. In various situations it becomes bigger then it was before. For example: Set the ideal width of the pane -> close Vivaldi -> start Vivaldi -> pane is bigger then before and uses too much space.
Saw that behaviour on at least two PCs, so its not just a single configuration.

@colebantam
Hello, can you please write a bug report.
https://vivaldi.com/de/bugreport/ -
@colebantam Do you have "Separate Width" checked on that web panel?
-
@npro @colebantam @ingolftopf It's a known bug already (VB-93838 - The new default Panel width is forced back after restart)
-
@AltCode oh, the default panel is forced back. Well this isn't quite accurate, if you extend it it remains there after a restart.
-
@npro
I would also like to have such a nice 'Arch' for 'Debian' in my signature.
I stole your KDE now, it has exactly the right dimensions. -

This is a bug - here is the solution (bundle.js edit)

@ingolftopf be my guest. Though it is half the joy because another person was forced to leave this community amongst many others too.
-
@npro
Shit, it's not working properly on my mobile right now.You don't have a Debian logo with KDE in your drawer?
-
@ingolftopf no

@zeeth , if your scrolling isn' smooth enough for you, as workarround i recommend this extension.

Updated to 5.7.2921.53, I don't see any Window Panel.
https://prnt.sc/JqRZC9r64QbLEdit: Of course I found it immediately after I posted.
-
Download panel still broken, it never updates unless I click on something, it does open folders and can not show downloads for several minutes. Reported a few times by other users, still happening.
-
Finally that feature of handling tabs among windows, but I was expecting the handling of the windows themselves too... I'd like to put e.g. that far more recent window of YouTube channels beside the old YouTube channel window - already much populated and with the icons and titles hard to distinguish - and keep them together for better control and access, since the category and subjects are the same. Hope you can implement such thing in the near future.
Anyway thanks a lot for the release and great update!
-
Extremely pleased about the Windows Panel. This is a change that will help a lot.

Thank you. But I wish vivaldi would just work like it did before the update. Every update, every version, more stuff is working wrong.

-
@Pesala Thank you. I couldn't find it via search, so I mistakenly assumed it didn't exist.
-
@npro Exactly which build did you first install, version and link? Was this an upgrade, i.e. did that vm ever have Vivaldi on before?
Can I have exact steps like
- On a machine with no Vivaldi ever installed
- I installed https://downloads.vivaldi.com/stable/vivaldi-stable_5.7.2921.53-1_amd64.deb
- Checked for updates via apt
I would like to know any variation or extra steps from the above.
P.S. I setup a quick, clean VM myself and followed the above and it looks like this for me
Now granted, while I was waiting for the VM to setup I did clear the cache on some meta data for the repository as a precaution. This could have fixed it but those commands are also run every time the repo is updated anyway.
