We will be doing maintenance work on Vivaldi Translate on the 11th of May starting at 03:00 (UTC) (see the time in your time zone).
Some downtime and service disruptions may be experienced.
Thanks in advance for your patience.
Vivaldi takes the Window Panel to another level.

@Pesala yeah you don't want just that, you want the different windows to be collapsed but their tab-stack folders to remain visible.
added: the example with the screenshots above:
If you use the backslash or the menu option in the 1st screenshot you will get the result of the 2nd screenshot, while you could have an extra option to just do what is shown in the 1st screenshot. -
Bravo!

Any update on adding trackpad gestures swiping forward/back? Is there really no one using a laptop here? It's a deal breaker for me. Can't use the browser on my laptop as navigation is really cumbersome when not able to navigate with my trackpad.
-
Great work on the update, I appreciate the extensive amount of fixes. One thing that has been bugging me though is that ever since the update that added colors to the settings menu tabs, the "remove tab spacing in maximized windows" setting no longer removes the gap between the top of the screen and the tabs completely. I feel like this update made this gap even bigger and it really hinders productivity, since I can no longer drag the mouse to the top of the screen and not worry about accidentally interacting with the window instead of the tabs. Will this change ever be reverted? Thank you.

@NeedStamina Known issue if UI Zoom in Settings, Appearance is less than 100%
Already fixed in the latest Snapshot. Expect a minor update soon.
-
@Pesala Thank you so much! It's been bugging me forever and I'm glad its in the pipeline. I'll switch to 100% for now!

There is a trackpad gestures extension in the Chrome Web Store (probably not your preferred solution, but it may be a temporary fix if Vivaldi is your preferred browser otherwise) which is fairly decent.

Counting this tab, too, it makes 742 of them and the number keeps rising. Sorry, I can't help it!
It's amazing that Vivaldi can do this.
Where is the limit?
Keep us informed, please. -
Smooth scrolling isn't as smooth anymore.

Is there a way to hide windows, other than the current window, or remove the others? Or display the tab bar on a single window now?
I use the Window panel for my tabs, since I haven't found a way to have the tab bar enabled on a single window. Now I have to go through the tabs and figure out which window I am using and if I happen to get it wrong and accidentally click a tab from a window on another monitor I then have to go to that window and find it's tabs and figure out which tab I had open.
I organize my tabs per window and now they are all together, until I go to each window and collapse the other windows tab in it's panel.
-
@marklb The best you can do is collapse all the tab folders with shortcut backslash, then expand the tree for the current window.
Settings for Panels are per window, but show/hide the tab bar is not.

@jbcrib Did you see the possible workaround I replied to your earlier post? https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/620524
While not exactly like other browsers, I quickly got used to 3-finger up/down swipes for navigation.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, a million times thank you for finally implementing the "mark as read" checkbox. It took us a long time, but we're finally here, Vivaldi 5.7 has finally fully replaced every other previous mail client I've used, for my personal workflow. Despite my occasional frustration with how long it took to get Mail out the door and dealbreaking issues like the lack of that checkbox, I really appreciate and respect the dedication of this team to making the sort of browser and internet client that I can use the way I want to use. You didn't compromise and you've kept the project and company alive in an era when every other browser is going the opposite direction. And that's awesome.
-
Is it possible to enhance the "mark as read" option to email filtered to specific folders? I'd want the main inbox or certain folders to come through as unread, but for other folders that are mainly spam or just not important can be kept as perma read.
-
Thanks for all your hard work! Seems like a adress-bar update xD

I love the Window Panel idea. It's a great addition on top of the Stacked Tabs 2.0 feature.
One minor suggestion I would like to add is to have the Trash folder/stack collapsed by default.
Speaking of more keyboard shortcuts, having one for duplicating tabs would make my life easier. You could use CTRL/CMD + SHIFT + K
-
@ProductUser You can set your own shortcut for Duplicate Selected Tabs in Settings, Keyboard, Tab.
Many commands do not have a shortcut by default because then new users would be getting random results when they use the shortcuts.

Regression: The sidebar (the panel on the left that holds the bookmarks aso) doesnt remember its size anymore. In various situations it becomes bigger then it was before. For example: Set the ideal width of the pane -> close Vivaldi -> start Vivaldi -> pane is bigger then before and uses too much space.
Saw that behaviour on at least two PCs, so its not just a single configuration.

@colebantam
Hello, can you please write a bug report.

@colebantam Do you have "Separate Width" checked on that web panel?
