Solved Auto mark email as read option
-
+1 I have to concur with the previous poster.
"Automatically mark as Read after X seconds" is very basic functionally that ever Email client I used had.
I understand Vivaldi Email can't be as powerfull as Outlook, but the core feature need to be there.
-
I am missing this feature as well. I want to have the mails be marked as seen when opened after X seconds. Instantly preferably.
-
I'm waiting for it also. It slows me down during my work.

Finnally they add an opiton to "Automatically mark as read" when you click in a unread mail, but it takes like 2 seconds to do it.
I will be great to add also the option to change this time. Maybe someone prefer like 10 seconds and others instantanily mark as read.

But anyway, is a progress and thanks to the team for this!

@Cjcr
It's been on the main here for a while, but had to wait for release to go onto the snapshot buildHave you filed a bug for the timer? Or put in the feature requests @Cjcr

@gmg I notice that the new mark as read option does not work on mails in the Unread view - obviously you don't want to mark a message as read while viewing it in unread because it would dissappear while looking at it.
I have suggested before to add the option "mark as read when deselecting message". So a message would be marked as read not when I select it, but when I "leave" it and select another message (or click on empty space in the message list). Contrary to timers this would work in any view, even in Unread, and could be another option additionally to timers.

@WildEnte FWIW, the way it works in Thunderbird for any view set to only show unread messages is the message is marked as read after the interval but it doesn't disappear from the view's list until you switch to another view and back.
Thunderbird even works that way for manually marking messages as read. They don't disappear from the view right away like in M2.

Makes sense for me on timed "mark as read" but not on manual "mark as read".
Also that would mean I would have to switch from using k (which only marks as read but doesn't leave the message) to using g (which marks as read and jumps to the next unread). Not sure if I can cope with that

I agree. I actually don't like Thunderbird's behavior when manually marking as read. Was just mentioning it.

Meanwhile I like the behaviour that you have to manually mark a message as read. But there should be an additional option to automatically mark it as read after the message has been answered.

@thimo Create a Command Chain to mark as read and reply.
